Qualifications for Wagon Boss and Jigger Bosses
Don't let this go in one ear and out the other, whoever thinks they're ready to be a wagon boss on God's outfit desires a good thing, but it'll also be hard. Don't choose them based on looks.
A wagon boss must be well-thought-of by everyone. He needs to be faithful to his wife and family. He needs to be able to control his temper, show respect to all, open his home to anyone, and pass on his knowledge and skill. 3 He shouldn't be a drunk or a man prone to fisticuffs. His nature should be gentle but tough, not quick-tempered or money hungry. 4 If he can't run his own family and have respectable children, he ain't going to run God's outfit very long without a lot of problems. 5 If you can't run a small outfit of those who love you, you won't last long in a bigger outfit. 6 He doesn't need to be a greenhorn, or the authority will go to his head. This leads to conceit and he will fall under the same wrath the devil will get. 7 Everyone should think highly of him, not just church cowboys. Go ask about him at the sale barn and see what others have to say. Don't just talk to his friend. Find out more. Don't put him into a position to fail and fall into the devil's noose.8 Just the same, jigger bosses (or deacons) should be well respected, honest, and not at the beer store every single day. They should never put good money ahead of good people.
They need to be tied hard and fast to the truths of the faith and have a clean conscience. 10 Only choose those who have proven they can ride the rough string and make hard decisions. If they practice what they preach, then let them be a jigger boss.11 But let's not forget about the cowgirls. They should be well respected, not idle gossipers. Self-control and faithfulness should be their way.
A jigger boss must be faithful to his wife and be a good dad to his children.
Those who are good jigger bosses will be rewarded with respect from all and their trophy buckle will be a bigger faith in Jesus Christ. The Truth about Our Ride for the Brand
Even though I hope to see you soon, I want you to have all this stuff in writing.
If I don't make it, you can read this over and over and know what to do in most situations. Teach folks how to ride for the brand in God's outfit. This outfit is what we call the church. He is a living God and he cares for all of us. This is what holds everything together.16 I know this is hard to understand. It is the mystery of our faith—God came down from heaven so we could see him. He didn't need human acceptance. The Spirit of God was with him. The angels saw his glory. He taught the truth to the world and many believed it. And when his ride was through, he rode up to heaven in glory.
