Deliver Me from My Enemies

^1 (C1)Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;
^(F1)(C2)Set me securely on high away from those who rise up against me.

² Deliver me from ^(C1)workers of iniquity
And save me from ^(C2)men of bloodshed.

³ For behold, they ^(C1)have lain in wait for my soul;
^(F1)Fierce men ^(F2)(C1)launch an attack against me,
^(C2)Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O Yahweh,

^4 (F1)(C1)For no guilt of mine, they run and set themselves against me.
^(C2)Arouse Yourself to meet me, and see!

⁵ You, ^(C1)O Yahweh God of hosts, the God of Israel,
Awake to ^(F1)(C2)punish all the nations;
^(C3)Do not be gracious to any who are treacherous in ^(F2)iniquity. ^Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical Interlude">(F3)Selah.

⁶ They ^(C1)return at evening, they howl like a ^(C2)dog,
And go around the city.

⁷ Behold, they ^(C1)pour forth speech with their mouth;
^(C2)Swords are in their lips,
For, they say, "^(C3)Who hears?"

⁸ But You, O Yahweh, ^(C1)laugh at them;
You ^(C2)mock all the nations.

⁹ Because of ^(F1)his ^(C1)strength I will watch for You,
For God is my ^(C2)stronghold.

^10 (F1)My God ^(C1)in His lovingkindness will approach me;
God will let me ^(C2)look triumphantly upon ^(F2)my foes.

¹¹ Do not slay them, ^(C1)or my people will forget;
^(C2)Make them wander about by Your power, and bring them down,
O Lord, ^(C3)our shield.

^12 (F1)On account of the ^(C1)sin of their mouth and the word of their lips,
Let them even be ^(C2)caught in their pride,
And on account of ^(C3)curses and ^(F2)lies which they utter.

^13 (F1)(C1)Destroy them in wrath, ^(F1)destroy them that they may be no more;
That men may ^(C2)know that God ^(F2)rules in Jacob
To the ends of the earth. Selah.

¹⁴ They ^(C1)return at evening, they howl like a dog,

¹⁵ They ^(C1)wander about ^(F1)for food
And ^(F2)growl if they are not satisfied.

¹⁶ But as for me, I shall ^(C1)sing of Your strength;
And I shall ^(C2)joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the ^(C3)morning,
For You have been my ^(C4)stronghold
And a ^(C5)refuge in the day of my distress.

^17 (C1)O my strength, I will sing praises to You;
For God is my ^(C2)stronghold, the ^(F1)God who shows me lovingkindness.
