Yahweh Will Set the Needy in Safety

¹ Save, O Yahweh, for ^(C1)the holy man ceases to be,
For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.

² They ^(C1)speak worthlessness to one another;
With a ^(C2)flattering lip and with a double heart they speak.

³ May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips,
The tongue that ^(C1)speaks great things;

⁴ Who ^(C1)have said, "With our tongue we will prevail;
Our lips are ^(F1)our own; who is lord over us?"

⁵ "Because of the ^(C1)devastation of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy,
Now ^(C2)I will arise," says Yahweh; "I will ^(C3)set him in the ^(F1)safety for which he ^(F2)longs."

⁶ The ^(C1)words of Yahweh are pure words;
As silver ^(C2)tried in a furnace on the ground, refined seven times.

⁷ You, O Yahweh, will keep them;
You will ^(C1)guard him from this generation forever.

⁸ The ^(C1)wicked strut about on every side
When ^(F1)(C2)vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
