Psalms 147

Praise for Jerusalem's Restoration and Prosperity.

1 Praise the LORD!
For (C1)it is good to sing praises to our gracious and majestic God;
Praise is (C2)becoming and appropriate.

2 The LORD is (C1)building up Jerusalem;
He is (C2)gathering together the exiles of Israel.

3 He heals the (C1)brokenhearted
And (C2)binds up their wounds healing their pain and comforting their sorrow. (VR1)

4 He (C1)counts the number of the stars;
He (C2)calls them all by their names.

5 (C1)Great is our majestic and mighty Lord and abundant in strength;
His (C2)understanding is inexhaustible infinite, boundless.

6 The LORD (C1)lifts up the humble;
He casts the wicked down to the ground.

7 (C1)Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving;
Sing praises to our God with the lyre,

8 Who (C1)covers the heavens with clouds,
Who (C2)provides rain for the earth,
Who (C3)makes grass grow on the mountains.

9 He (C1)gives to the beast its food,
And to the (C2)young ravens that for which they cry.

10 He does not delight in the strength (military power) of the (C1)horse,
(C2)Nor does He take pleasure in the legs (strength) of a man.

11 The LORD (C1)favors those who fear and worship Him with awe-inspired reverence and obedience,
(C2)Those who wait for His mercy and lovingkindness. (VR1)

12 Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, O Zion!

13 For He has strengthened the (C1)bars of your gates,
He has (C2)blessed your children within you.

14 He (C1)makes peace in your borders;
He (C2)satisfies you with (C3)the finest of the wheat.

15 He sends His (C1)command to the earth;
His (C2)word runs very swiftly.

16 He gives to the earth (C1)snow like a blanket of wool;
He scatters the (C2)frost like ashes.

17 He casts out His (C1)ice like fragments;
Who can stand before His (C2)cold?

18 He (C1)sends out His word and melts the ice;
He (C2)causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow.

19 He (C1)declares His word to Jacob,
His (C2)statutes and His ordinances to Israel. (VR1)

20 He (C1)has not dealt this way with any other nation;
They have (C2)not known understood, appreciated, heeded, or cherished His ordinances.
Praise the LORD! (Hallelujah!) (VR1)
