¹ But, of this, be taking note - that, in last days, there will set in perilous seasons;

¹ Bvt this shalt thou knowe, that in the last dayes shal come parelous tymes.

¹ Take notice that in the latter days difficult incidents will arise; ^1-5 Don't be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. They'll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they're animals. Stay clear of these people.

The Hard Trail Ahead

¹ Know this, Timothy! When the end is near, the trail will be very difficult. ² For people will be lovers of self,^(C1) lovers of money,^(C2) boastful, proud,^(C3) demeaning, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,^{(C4) 2} For men shall bee louers of their owne selues, couetous, boasters, proude, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, vnthankfull, vnholy,

² For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ² For people will be ^(b)lovers of self, ^(c)lovers of money, ^(d)proud, ^(e)arrogant, abusive, ^(f)disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,² For people will be ^(C1)lovers of self, ^(C2)lovers of money, ^(C3)boastful, ^(C3)arrogant, ^(C4)slanderers, ^(C3)disobedient to parents, ^(C5)ungrateful, ^(C6)unholy, ² because people will love themselves, love money, brag, and be proud. They will say evil things against others and will not obey their parents or be thankful or be the kind of people God wants. ² For men will be ^(C1)lovers of self, ^(C2)lovers of money, ^(C3)boastful, ^(C3)arrogant, ^(C4)revilers, ^(C3)disobedient to parents, ^(C5)ungrateful, ^(C6)unholy,² For men will be ^(C1)lovers of self, ^(C2)lovers of money, ^(C3)boastful, ^(C3)arrogant, ^(C4)blasphemers, ^(C3)disobedient to parents, ^(C5)ungrateful, ^(C6)unholy,² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, ² People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud, stuck-up, rude, and disobedient to their parents. They will also be ungrateful, godless, ² People will be self-loving, money-loving, proud, arrogant, insulting, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

² for men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, evil speakers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, profane, ² People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud and boast about themselves. They will abuse others with insults. They will not obey their parents. They will be ungrateful and against all that is pleasing to God.² For men shalbe louers of their owne selues, couetous, boasters, proud, cursed speakers, disobedient to parents, vnthankefull, vnholy,² And men shall be lovers of themselves, and lovers of money, proud, conceited, blasphemers, disobedient to their own people, ungrateful, wicked, ² People will be selfish, greedy, boastful, and conceited; they will be insulting, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, and irreligious; ² for people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, ² For men will be lovers of themselves, money-lovers, braggarts, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,² For people will be ^(C1)lovers of self narcissistic, self-focused, ^(C2)lovers of money impelled by greed, ^(C3)boastful, ^(C3)arrogant, ^(C4)revilers, ^(C3)disobedient to parents, ^(C5)ungrateful, ^(C6)unholy and profane, ² For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ² For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, uplifted in pride, given to bitter words, going against the authority of their fathers, never giving praise, having no religion,² For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ² People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,[xr] ² and men will be lovers of themselves, and lovers of money, boastful, lofty, blasphemous, to their men not obedient, deniers of grace, impious, calumniators,² and men will be lovers of themselves, and lovers of money, boasters, proud, censorious, unyielding towards their own people, denyers of grace, wicked,² For men shalbe louers of their owne selues, couetous, boasters, proude, blasphemers, disobedient to fathers and mothers, vnthankefull, vngodlye:² For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ² For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, arrogant, proud, evil-speakers,² For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, profane. They will be disobedient to parents, thankless, irreligious,² coueitouse, hiy of bering, proude, blasfemeris, not obedient to fadir and modir, vnkynde,² For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,² For men will be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ² For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, ² For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ² For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. ² People will love themselves and money. They will have pride and tell of all the things they have done. They will speak against God. Children and young people will not obey their parents. People will not be thankful and they will not be holy. ² For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, ² For men will be - fond of themselves, fond of money, ostentatious, arrogant, defamers, to parents, unyielding, unthankful, unkind,² Men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, haughty, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked,² For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,² For the me shalbe lovers of their awne selves coveteous bosters proude cursed speakers disobediet to father and mother vnthakfull vnholy² for men shall be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, evil-speakers, to parents disobedient, unthankful, unkind,² for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, slanderous, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unkind,² For there shalbe me which shal holde of the selues, couetous, boasters, proude, cursed speakers, dishobedient to their elders, vnthankfull, vngoostly,² for men will be selfish, avaricious, vain, proud, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, ² People's priorities will only be money and themselves. They will be arrogant and proud. Not only will they scoff at God, but their parents as well. They won't have a grateful bone in their body. Nothing will be sacred. ³ unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers,^(C1) without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,^{(C2) 3} Without naturall affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

³ Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, ^3 (g)heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, ^(h)not loving good,^3 (C1)unloving, irreconcilable, ^(C2)malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, ^(F1)(C3)haters of good, ³ They will not love others, will refuse to forgive, will gossip, and will not control themselves. They will be cruel, will hate what is good, ^3 (C1)unloving, irreconcilable, ^(C2)malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, ^(F1)(C3)haters of good,^3 (C1)unloving, irreconcilable, ^(F1)(C2)malicious gossips, without self-control, without gentleness, ^(C3)without love for good,³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, ³ heartless, and hateful. Their words will be cruel, and they will have no self-control or pity. These people will hate everything that is good. ³ heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, uncontrolled, brutal, hateful of good,

³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, of unsubdued passions, savage, having no love for what is good, ³ They will have no love for others and will refuse to forgive anyone. They will talk about others to hurt them and will have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.³ Without naturall affection, truce breakers, false accusers, intemperate, fierce, no louers at all of them which are good,³ False accusers, addicts to lust, brutal, haters of good things, ³ they will be unkind, merciless, slanderers, violent, and fierce; they will hate the good; ³ hardhearted, irreconcilable, slanderous, without self-control, savage, with no interest for what is good, ³ without natural feeling, unyielding, slanderers, without self-control, savage, haters of good,³ and they will be ^(C1)unloving devoid of natural human affection, calloused and inhumane, irreconcilable, ^(C2)malicious gossips, devoid of self-control intemperate, immoral, brutal, ^(C3)haters of good, ³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, ³ Without natural love, bitter haters, saying evil of others, violent and uncontrolled, hating all good,³ without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, ³ unfeeling, uncooperative, slanderous, degenerate, brutal, hateful of what is good,[xr] ³ subjected to lust, brutal, haters of the good,³ calumniators, addicted to concupiscence, ferocious, haters of the good,³ Without naturall affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, riotous, fierce, despisers of them which are good,³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self–control, fierce, no lovers of good, ³ without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, ³ disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, Without natural affection, covenant-breakers, slanderers, intemperate, fierce, despisers of good men,³ destitute of natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers. They will have no self-control, but will be brutal, opposed to goodness,³ cursid, with outen affeccioun, with out pees, false blameris, vncontynent, vnmylde,³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good,³ Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, ³ unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good, ³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, ³ They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. ³ They will not love each other. No one can get along with them. They will tell lies about others. They will not be able to keep from doing things they know they should not do. They will be wild and want to beat and hurt those who are good. ³ inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good, ³ without natural affection, accepting no truce, given to intrigue, without self-control, uncivilized, unfriendly to good men,³ Without affection, without peace, slanderers, incontinent, unmerciful, without kindness,³ inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good,³ vnkinde trucebreakers stubborn falce accusars ryatours fearce despisers of the which are good³ without natural affection, implacable, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, not lovers of those who are good,³ without natural affection, implacable, false accusers, without control, barbaric, not lovers of those who are good,³ vnkynde, truce breakers, false accusers, ryatours, fearce, despysers of them which are good,³ villainous, unnatural, perfidious, defamers, debauchees, ³ Their saddlebags will be filled with hate and unforgiveness. They'll be slaves to lust and slander. Cruelty will mark their trail and they will hate anything that is good. ⁴ traitors,^(C1) reckless,^(C2) conceited,^(C3) lovers of pleasure^(C4) rather than lovers of God, ⁴ Traitours, heady, high minded, louers of pleasures more then louers of God,

⁴ Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; ⁴ treacherous, reckless, ⁽ⁱ⁾swollen with conceit, ^(j)lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,^4 (C1)treacherous, ^(C2)reckless, ^(C3)conceited, ^(C4)lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁴ will turn against their friends, and will do foolish things without thinking. They will be conceited, will love pleasure instead of God, ^4 (C1)treacherous, ^(C2)reckless, ^(C3)conceited, ^(C4)lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,^4 (C1)treacherous, ^(C2)reckless, ^(C3)conceited, ^(C4)lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,⁴ traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁴ They will be sneaky, reckless, and puffed up with pride. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure. ⁴ traitorous, headstrong, swollen with conceit, loving pleasure rather than God,

⁴ traitors, headlong, of vain pretensions, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁴ People will turn against their friends. They will do foolish things without thinking and will be so proud of themselves. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure.⁴ Traitours, headie, high minded, louers of pleasures more then louers of God,⁴ Traitors, hasty, boasters, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; ⁴ they will be treacherous, reckless, and swollen with pride; they will love pleasure rather than God; ⁴ traitors, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God, ⁴ betrayers, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,^4 (C1)traitors, ^(C2)reckless, ^(C3)conceited, ^(C4)lovers of sensual pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁴ traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁴ False to their friends, acting without thought, lifted up in mind, loving pleasure more than God;⁴ traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁴ traitors, reckless, conceited, and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.[xr] ⁴ 4 traitors, impetuous [fn] puffed up, lovers of lusts rather than the love of Aloha; ⁴ treacherous, rash, inflated, attached to pleasure more than to the love of God,⁴ Traytours, headdy, hye mynded, louers of pleasures more then louers of God:⁴ traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁴ traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; ⁴ Traitors, rash, puffed up, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God;⁴ treacherous, headstrong, self-important. They will love pleasure instead of loving God,⁴ with out benygnyte, traitouris, ouerthwert, bollun with proude thouytis, blynde, loueris of lustis more than of God,⁴ traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;⁴ Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; ⁴ treacherous, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God. ⁴ traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁴ They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. ⁴ They will not stay true to their friends. They will act without thinking. They will think too much of themselves. They will love fun instead of loving God. ⁴ treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁴ traitors, reckless, beclouded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,⁴ Traitors, stubborn, puffed up, and lovers of pleasure more than of God:⁴ treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,⁴ traytours heddy hye mynded gredy apon volupteousnes more then the lovers of god⁴ traitors, heady, lofty, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,⁴ traitors, reckless, lofty, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,⁴ traytours, heady, hye mynded, gredy vpon voluptuousnes more then the louers of God,⁴ cruel, enemies to virtue, traitors, insolent, conceited, and more devoted to pleasure than to piety: ⁴ They'll stab their friends in the back for a buck and puff their chests out in pride for what they've done. Their pleasure will be other's pain and they will not know God. ⁵ holding to the form of godliness but denying its power.^(C1) Avoid these people.^(C2)

⁵ Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. ⁵ having the appearance of godliness, but ^(k)denying its power. ^(l)Avoid such people.⁵ holding to a form of ^(F1)(C1)godliness although they have ^(C2)denied its power; ^(C3)avoid such people as these. ⁵ and will act as if they serve God but will not have his power. Stay away from those people. ⁵ holding to a form of ^(F1)(C1)godliness, although they have ^(C2)denied its power; ^(C3)Avoid such men as these.⁵ holding to a form of ^(F1)(C1)godliness, but having ^(C2)denied its power. ^(C3)Keep away from such men as these.⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these! ⁵ Even though they will make a show of being religious, their religion won't be real. Don't have anything to do with such people. ⁵ as they retain the outer form of religion but deny its power.

Stay away from these people!

⁵ having a form of piety but denying the power of it: and from these turn away. ⁵ They will go on pretending to be devoted to God, but they will refuse to let that "devotion" change the way they live. Stay away from these people!⁵ Hauing a shewe of godlinesse, but haue denied the power thereof: turne away therefore from such.⁵ Having a form of godliness, but are far from the power of God: from such turn away. ⁵ they will hold to the outward form of our religion, but reject its real power. Keep away from such people. ⁵ maintaining a form of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid these people. ⁵ having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it; even turn away from these.⁵ holding to a form of outward ^(C1)godliness (religion), although they have ^(C2)denied its power for their conduct nullifies their claim of faith. ^(C3)Avoid such people and keep far away from them. ⁵ holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof: from these also turn away. ⁵ Having a form of religion, but turning their backs on the power of it: go not with these.⁵ holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof. Turn away from these, also. ⁵ They will hold to an outward form of godliness but deny its power. Stay away from such people.[xr] ⁵ having a form of the worship of Aloha, but from the power of Aloha afar off: (them) who are such put from thee.⁵ having a form of respect for God, but wide from the power of God. Them who are such, repel from thee.⁵ Hauyng a fourme of godlynesse, but denying the power therof: turne away from these.⁵ holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof: from these also turn away. ⁵ holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof. Turn away from these, also. ⁵ Having a form of godliness but denying the power of it.⁵ and will keep up a make-believe of piety and yet live in defiance of its power. Turn away from people of this sort.⁵ hauynge the licknesse of pitee, but denyynge the vertu of it. And eschewe thou these men.⁵ holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof. From these also turn away.⁵ Having a form of godliness, but denying its power: from such turn away. ⁵ They will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these. ⁵ having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! ⁵ They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! ⁵ They will do things to make it look as if they are Christians. But they will not receive the power that is for a Christian. Keep away from such people. ⁵ holding to the outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid them! ⁵ having a form of godliness, but, the power thereof, denying! and, from these, turn away;⁵ Having an appearance indeed of godliness but denying the power thereof. Now these avoid.⁵ holding the form of religion but denying the power of it. Avoid such people.⁵ havynge a similitude of godly lyvynge but have denyed the power ther of and soche abhorre.⁵ having a form of piety, and its power having denied; and from these be turning away,⁵ having a form of piety, but having denied its power; and be turning away from these,⁵ hauynge a shyne off godly lyuynge, but denyenge the power therof. And soch avoyde.⁵ of which they wear the appearance, but disclaim its influence. have no intercourse with such. ⁵ They will act religious, but deny the power that could change their lives into something special. Steer clear of cowboys like that.

⁶ For among them are those who worm their way into households and deceive gullible women overwhelmed by sins and led astray by a variety of passions,^{(C1) 6} For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and leade captiue silly women laden with sinnes, led away with diuers lusts,

⁶ For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ⁶ For among them are ^(m)those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions,⁶ For among them are those who ^(F1)(C1)slip into households and captivate ^(F2)(C2)weak women weighed down with sins, led on by ^(C3)various impulses, ⁶ Some of them go into homes and get control of silly women who are full of sin and are led by many evil desires. ⁶ For among them are those who ^(F1)(C1)enter into households and captivate ^(F2)(C2)weak women weighed down with sins, led on by ^(C3)various impulses,⁶ For among them are those who ^(F1)(C1)enter into households and take captive ^(F2)(C2)weak women weighed down with sins, being led on by ^(C3)various desires,⁶ They are the kind who worm their way into households and captivate vulnerable women weighed down with sins and led astray by various passions,

⁶ Some men fool whole families, just to get power over those women who are slaves of sin and are controlled by all sorts of desires. ⁶ For some of them worm their way into homes and get control of weak-willed women who are heaped with sins and swayed by various impulses,

⁶ For of these are they who are getting into houses, and leading captive silly women, laden with sins, led by various lusts,

⁶ Some of them go into homes and get control over weak women, whose lives are full of sin—women who are led into sin by all the things they want.⁶ For of this sort are they which creepe into houses, and leade captiue simple women laden with sinnes, and led with diuers lustes,
