Motivations for Giving

1 Now concerning the ministry to the saints, it is unnecessary for me to write to you.

1 For as touching the ministring to the Saints, it is superfluous for mee to write to you.

1 For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

The Collection for Christians in Jerusalem

1 Now (a)it is superfluous for me to write to you about (b)the ministry for the saints,

God Gives Most

1 For (C1)it is superfluous for me to write to you about this (C2)ministry to the (F1)saints;

Help for Fellow Christians

1 I really do not need to write you about this help for God's people.

God Gives Most

1 Now (C1)it is unnecessary for me to write to you about the (C2)offering that is to be made for the saints in Jerusalem;

God Gives Most

1 For (C1)it is superfluous for me to write to you about this (C2)ministry to the (F1)saints;

God Loves a Cheerful Giver

1 For (C1)it is superfluous for me to write to you about this (C2)ministry to the (F1)saints;

God Loves a Cheerful Giver

(Leviticus 22:17-33)

1 Now about the service to the saints, there is no need for me to write to you.

The Money for God's People

1 I don't need to write you about the money you plan to give for God's people.

1 There is really no need for me to write you about this offering for God's people —

1 For concerning the ministration which [is] for the saints, it is superfluous my writing to you.

Your Giving Is a Blessing

1 I really don't need to write to you about this help for God's people.

1 For as touching the ministring to the Saints, it is superfluous for me to write vnto you.

1 CONCERNING the ministration to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you.

Help for Needy Believers

1 There is really no need for me to write you about the help being sent to God's people in Judea.

God Loves a Cheerful Giver

1 For it is unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the ministry to the saints,

1 For indeed concerning the ministry to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you.

1 For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

1 But there is no need for me to say anything in my letter about the giving to the saints:

1 It is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the service to the holy ones,

1 I do not need to write to you any further about the ministry to the saints.[xr]

1 BUT concerning the administration of the saints, I do more (than enough) if I write to you.

1 And concerning the ministration by the saints, it would be superfluous for me to write to you:

1 Of the ministryng to the saintes, it is but superfluous for me to write vnto you:

1 For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

1 It is indeed unnecessary for me to write to you concerning the service to the saints,

1 For concerning the ministring to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you.

1 As to the services which are being rendered to God's people, it is really unnecessary for me to write to you.

1 For of the mynystrie that is maad to hooli men, it is to me of plente to write to you.

1 For as concerning the service to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

1 For as concerning the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:

Preparing the Gift

1 For it is not necessary for me to write you about this service to the saints,

1 Now concerning the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you;

The Collection for Christians in Jerusalem

1 I really don't need to write to you about this ministry of giving for the believers in Jerusalem.[a]

Giving to Help Other Christians

1 I do not need to write to you about helping those who belong to Christ.

The Collection for Christians at Jerusalem

1 Now it is not necessary for me to write you about the ministry to the saints,

1 For, indeed, concerning the ministry which is for the saints, it is, superfluous for me, to be writing to you;

1 For concerning the ministry that is done towards the saints, it is superfluous for me to write unto you.

1 Now it is superfluous for me to write to you about the offering for the saints,

1 Of the ministrynge to ye saynctes it is but superfluous for me to write vnto you:

1 For, indeed, concerning the ministration that [is] for the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you,

1 For indeed, concerning the ministry that [is] for the holy ones, it is superfluous for me to write to you,

1 Of the handreachinge vnto ye sayntes, it is no nede for me to wryte vnto you:

1 As to the relief of the converts, it is superfluous for me to write to you. 1-2 If I wrote any more on this relief offering for the poor Christians, I'd be repeating myself. I know you're on board and ready to go. I've been bragging about you all through Macedonia province, telling them, "Achaia province has been ready to go on this since last year." Your enthusiasm by now has spread to most of them.

Passing the Hat

1 I don't need to keep going on and on about lending a hand to the cowboys in Jerusalem. 2 For I know your eagerness, and I boast about you to the Macedonians:(C1) “Achaia(C2) has been ready since last year,” and your zeal(C3) has stirred up most of them.(C4) 2 For I know the forwardnesse of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a yeere agoe, and your zeale hath prouoked very many.

2 For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many. 2 for I know your readiness, (c)of which I boast about you to the people of Macedonia, saying that Achaia has been ready (d)since last year. And your zeal has stirred up most of them.2 for I know your willingness, of which I (C1)boast about you to the (C2)Macedonians, namely, that (C3)Achaia has been prepared since (C4)last year, and your zeal has stirred up most of them. 2 I know you want to help. I have been bragging about this to the people in Macedonia, telling them that you in Southern Greece have been ready to give since last year. And your desire to give has made most of them ready to give also. 2 for I know your eagerness to promote this cause, and I have proudly (C1)boasted to the (C2)people of Macedonia about it, telling them that (F1)(C3)Achaia has been prepared since (C4)last year for this contribution, and your enthusiasm has inspired the majority of them to respond.2 for I know your readiness, of which I (C1)boast about you to the (C2)Macedonians, namely, that (C3)Achaia has been prepared since (C4)last year, and your zeal has stirred up most of them.2 for I know your readiness, of which I (C1)boast about you to the (C2)Macedonians, that (C3)Achaia has been prepared since (C4)last year, and your zeal stirred up most of them.2 For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting to the Macedonians that since last year you in Achaia were prepared to give. And your zeal has stirred most of them to do likewise. 2 I know how eager you are to give. And I have proudly told the Lord's followers in Macedonia that you people in Achaia have been ready for a whole year. Now your desire to give has made them want to give. 2 I know how eager you are, and I boast about you to the Macedonians. I tell them, "Achaia has been ready since last year," and it was your zeal that stirred up most of them.

2 For I know your readiness, which I boast of as respects you to Macedonians, that Achaia is prepared since a year ago, and the zeal [reported] of you has stimulated the mass [of the brethren]. 2 I know that you want to help. I have been bragging about you to the people in Macedonia. I told them that you people in Achaia have been ready to give since last year. And your desire to give has made most of the people here ready to give also.2 For I knowe your readinesse of minde, whereof I boast my selfe of you vnto them of Macedonia, and say, that Achaia was prepared a yeere agoe, and your zeale hath prouoked many.2 For I know that you have made up your minds, and that is why I boasted of you to the Macedonians stating that A-cha''ia was ready a year ago; and your zeal has stirred up a great many people. 2 I know that you are willing to help, and I have boasted of you to the people in Macedonia. "The believers in Achaia," I said, "have been ready to help since last year." Your eagerness has stirred up most of them. 2 because I know your readiness to help, concerning which I keep on boasting to the Macedonians about you, that Achaia has been ready to help since last year, and your zeal has stirred up the majority of them. 2 For I know your eagerness, of which I boast to Macedonia on your behalf, that Achaia has made ready from last year, and your zeal arouses the greater number. 2 for I know your readiness, of which I glory on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia hath been prepared for a year past; and [a]your zeal hath stirred up [b]very many of them. 2 For I have before made clear to those of Macedonia my pride in your ready mind, saying to them that Achaia has been ready for a year back; and a great number have been moved to do the same by your example.2 for I know your readiness, of which I boast on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for a year past. Your zeal has stirred up very many of them. 2 For I know how willing you are, and I boast about you to the people of Macedonia, saying[fn] that Achaia has been ready since last year, and your enthusiasm has stimulated most of them.[xr] 2 For I know the goodness of your mind, of which I boasted of you to the Makedunoyee, that Akaia was ready since last year, and your zeal hath stirred up many.2 for I know the goodness of your mind; and therefore I gloried of you before the Macedonians, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath excited many.2 For I knowe the redinesse of your mynde, whereof I boast my selfe of you, vnto them of Macedonia, that Achaia was prepared a yere a go: and your zeale hath prouoked many.2 for I know your readiness, of which I glory on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia hath been prepared for a year past; and your zeal hath stirred up very many of them. 2 for I know your readiness, of which I boast on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for a year past. Your zeal has stirred up very many of them. 2 For I know your readiness, which I boast concerning you to the Macedonians, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.2 For I know your earnest willingness, on account of which I habitually boast of you to the Macedonians, pointing out to them that for a whole year you in Greece have been ready; and the greater number of them have been spurred on by your ardour.2 For Y knowe youre wille, for the which Y haue glorie of you anentis Macedonyes, for also Acaie is redi fro a yeer passid, and youre loue hath stirid ful manye.2 for I know your readiness, of which I glory on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia has been prepared for a year past; and your zeal has stirred up very many of them.2 For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath incited very many. 2 because I know your eagerness to help. I keep boasting to the Macedonians about this eagerness of yours, that Achaia has been ready to give since last year, and your zeal to participate has stirred up most of them. 2 for I know your willingness, about which I boast of you to the Macedonians, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal has stirred up the majority. 2 For I know how eager you are to help, and I have been boasting to the churches in Macedonia that you in Greece[b] were ready to send an offering a year ago. In fact, it was your enthusiasm that stirred up many of the Macedonian believers to begin giving. 2 I know you want to do it. I have told the people in the country of Macedonia that you were ready to send money last year. Your desire has started most of them to give. 2 for I know your eagerness, which is the subject of my boasting about you to the people of Macedonia, saying that Achaia has been ready since last year; and your zeal has stirred up most of them. 2 For I know your forwardness of mind - of which, in your behalf, I am boasting unto Macedonians, that, Achaia, hath been prepared for a year past, - and, your zeal, hath stirred up the greater number of them.2 For I know your forward mind: for which I boast of you to the Macedonians, that Achaia also is ready from the year past. And your emulation hath provoked very many.2 for I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the people of Macedo'nia, saying that Acha'ia has been ready since last year; and your zeal has stirred up most of them.2 for I knowe youre redynes of mide wherof I bost my silfe vnto them of Macedonia and saye that Achaia was prepared a yeare a goo and youre ferventnes hath provoked many.2 for I have known your readiness of mind, which in your behalf I boast of to Macedonians, that Achaia hath been prepared a year ago, and the zeal of you did stir up the more part,2 for I have known your readiness of mind, which in your behalf I boast of to Macedonians, that Achaia has been prepared a year ago, and your zeal stirred up the greater part,2 for I knowe youre redynesse of mynde, wherof I boast my selfe amonge them of Macedonia, and saye: Achaia was ready a yeare agoo. And youre feruentnesse hath prouoked many.2 for I know your generous propensity, and I mention'd it with applause to the Macedonians, that Achaia was ready a year ago; so that your zeal has influenc'd many others. 2 I know y'all are on board. I've been bragging about y'all to all the outfits in Macedonia. I told everyone the outfit in Greece was ready to send an offering over a year ago. This has stoked the fire and now others want to give because of y'all. 3 But I am sending the brothers so that our boasting about you in this matter would not prove empty, and so that you would be ready just as I said. 3 Yet haue I sent the brethren, least our boasting of you should bee in vaine in this behalfe, that as I saide, yee may be readie.

3 Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready: 3 But (e)I am sending[a] the brothers so that our boasting about you may not prove empty in this matter, so that you may be ready, (f)as I said you would be.3 But I have sent the brothers, in order that our (C1)boasting about you may not prove empty in this case, so that, (C2)as I was saying, you will be prepared; 3 But I am sending the brothers to you so that our bragging about you in this will not be empty words. I want you to be ready, as I said you would be. 3 Still, I am sending the brothers on to you, so that our (C1)pride in you may not be an empty boast in this case, and so that you may be prepared, just (C2)as I told them you would be;3 But I have sent the brethren, in order that our (C1)boasting about you may not be made empty in this case, so that, (C2)as I was saying, you may be prepared;3 But I have sent the brothers, in order that our (C1)boasting about you may not be made empty in this case, so that, (C2)as I was saying, you may be prepared;3 But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove empty, but that you will be prepared, just as I said. 3 That's why I am sending Titus and the two others to you. I want you to be ready, just as I promised. This will prove that we were not wrong to brag about you. 3 But now I am sending the brothers so that our boast about you in this regard will not prove hollow, so that you will be ready, as I said you would be.

3 But I have sent the brethren, in order that our boasting about you may not be made void in this respect, in order that, as I have said, ye may be prepared; 3 But I am sending these brothers to you. I don't want our bragging about you in this to be for nothing. I want you to be ready just as I said you would be.3 Nowe haue I sent the brethren, lest our reioycing ouer you shoulde bee in vaine in this behalfe, that yee (as I haue sayde) be readie:3 Yet I have sent the brethren, so that our pride in you should not be in vain because of this question; for as I have said, you must be prepared: 3 Now I am sending these believers, so that our boasting about you in this matter may not turn out to be empty words. But, just as I said, you will be ready with your help. 3 But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you would not prove to be empty in this case, so that you may be prepared just as I was saying, 3 But I sent the brothers that our boasting which is on your behalf should not be in vain in this respect, that as I said, you were ready; 3 But I have sent the brethren, that our glorying on your behalf may not be made void in this respect; that, even as I said, ye may be prepared: 3 But I have sent the brothers, so that the good things we said about you may be seen to be true, and that, as I said, you may be ready:3 But I have sent the brothers, that our glorying on your behalf may not be made void in this respect, that, even as I said, you may be prepared, 3 Now I have sent the brothers so that our boasting about you in this matter may not prove to be an idle boast, and so that you may stand ready, just as I said.[xr] 3 But I have sent the brethren to you, that our boasting which we boasted of you may not in this affair be vain; but, as I have said, you may be ready:3 Yet I sent the brethren, lest the glorying with which we have gloried in you in regard to this matter, should prove vain; and that ye, as I said, may be ready;3 Yet haue I sent the brethren, lest our boastyng which I make of you, should be in vayne in this behalfe, that ye (as I haue sayde) may prepare your selues.3 But I have sent the brethren, that our glorying on your behalf may not be made void in this respect; that, even as I said, ye may be prepared: 3 But I have sent the brothers, that our glorying on your behalf may not be made void in this respect, that, even as I said, you may be prepared, 3 Yet I have sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you on this head should be made vain, that, as I said, ye may be ready;3 Still I send the brethren in order that in this matter our boast about you may not turn out to have been an idle one; so that, as I have said, you may be ready;3 And we han sent britheren, that this thing that we glorien of you, be not auoidid in this parti, that as Y seide, ye be redi.3 But I have sent the brothers, that our glorying on your behalf may not be made void in this respect; that, even as I said, you may be prepared:3 Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready: 3 But I am sending these brothers so that our boasting about you may not be empty in this case, so that you may be ready just as I kept telling them. 3 Yet I have sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this respect, that, as I said, you may be ready;

3 But I am sending these brothers to be sure you really are ready, as I have been telling them, and that your money is all collected. I don't want to be wrong in my boasting about you. 3 I am sending these Christian brothers so the words I said about you will prove to be true and you will be ready to help. 3 But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you may not prove to have been empty in this case, so that you may be ready, as I said you would be; 3 Nevertheless I have sent the brethren, that, our boast in your behalf, be not made void, in this respect, that, even as I was saying, ye may be prepared, - 3 Now I have sent the brethren, that the thing which we boast of concerning you be not made void in this behalf, that (as I have said) you may be ready:3 But I am sending the brethren so that our boasting about you may not prove vain in this case, so that you may be ready, as I said you would be;3 Never thelesse yet have I sent these brethren lest oure reioysynge over you shuld be in vayne in this behalfe and that ye (as I have sayd) preparare youre selues3 and I sent the brethren, that our boasting on your behalf may not be made vain in this respect; that, according as I said, ye may be ready,3 and I sent the brothers, that our boasting on your behalf may not be made vain in this respect; that, according as I said, you may be ready,3 Neuertheles yet haue we sent these brethren, lest oure reioysinge ouer you shulde be in vayne in this behalfe, that ye mighte be ready, as I haue reported of you:3 yet have I sent the brethren, that my character of you may not appear to be groundless, with respect to that part wherein I said, ye would be ready: 3-5 Now I'm sending the brothers to make sure you're ready, as I said you would be, so my bragging won't turn out to be just so much hot air. If some Macedonians and I happened to drop in on you and found you weren't prepared, we'd all be pretty red-faced—you and us—for acting so sure of ourselves. So to make sure there will be no slipup, I've recruited these brothers as an advance team to get you and your promised offering all ready before I get there. I want you to have all the time you need to make this offering in your own way. I don't want anything forced or hurried at the last minute.3 I'm sending these cowboys to be sure y'all have passed the hat and are ready to send your offering. I hope I wasn't wrong about y'all. 4 Otherwise, if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we, not to mention you, would be put to shame in that situation.(F1) 4 Lest happily if they of Macedonia come with mee, & find you vnprepared, wee (that wee say not, you) should bee ashamed in this same confident boasting.

4 Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting. 4 Otherwise, if some Macedonians (g)come with me and find that you are not ready, we would be humiliated—to say nothing of you—for being so confident.4 otherwise, if any (C1)Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to mention you—would be put to shame by this confidence. 4 If any of the people from Macedonia come with me and find that you are not ready, we will be ashamed that we were so sure of you. (And you will be ashamed, too!) 4 otherwise, if any (C1)Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—to say nothing of yourselves—will be humiliated for being so confident.4 otherwise if any (C1)Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we--not to speak of you--will be put to shame by this confidence.4 lest if any (C1)Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to speak of you—be put to shame in this certainty of ours.4 Otherwise, if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—to say nothing of you—would be ashamed of having been so confident.

4 Some followers from Macedonia may come with me, and I want them to find that you have the money ready. If you don't, I would be embarrassed for trusting you to do this. But you would be embarrassed even more. 4 For if some Macedonians were to come with me and find you unprepared, we would be humiliated at having been so confident — to say nothing of how you would feel.

4 lest haply, if Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, *we*, that we say not *ye*, may be put to shame in this confidence. 4 If any of those from Macedonia come with me, and they find that you are not ready, we will be ashamed. We will be ashamed that we were so sure of you. And you will be ashamed too!4 Lest if they of Macedonia come with me, and finde you vnprepared, we (that wee may not say, you) should be ashamed in this my constant boasting.4 Lest it happen some Macedonians come with me, and find you unprepared and we would be ashamed for, because of our pride in you, we would not say anything which would put the blame on you. 4 However, if the people from Macedonia should come with me and find out that you are not ready, how ashamed we would be—not to speak of your shame—for feeling so sure of you! 4 lest somehow if Macedonians should come with me and find you unprepared, we—not to speak of you[a]—would be humiliated in connection with this project. 4 lest if Macedonians come with me and find you not ready, that we (we do not say you) should be ashamed in this assurance of boasting. 4 lest by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be put to shame in this confidence. 4 For fear that, if any from Macedonia come with me, and you are not ready, we (not to say, you) might be put to shame in this thing.4 so that I won't by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we (to say nothing of you) should be put to shame in this confident boasting. 4 Otherwise, if any Macedonians come with me and find out that you are not ready, we would be humiliated - to say nothing of you - in this undertaking. 4 lest, if the Makedunoyee should come with me, and find you not ready, we be shamed-that I may not say, you be shamed-of the boasting which we have boasted.4 so that, if the Macedonians should come with me, and should find you unprepared, we-not to say, ye-should be put to shame for that glorying in which we gloried.4 Lest yf they of Macedonia come with me, and fynde you vnprepared, we (I wyll not say you) shoulde be ashamed in this matter of boastyng.4 lest by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be put to shame in this confidence. 4 so that I won't by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we (to say nothing of you) should be put to shame in this confident boasting. 4 Lest if any of the Macedonians come with me, and find you unprepared, we (not to say, you) be ashamed of this confident boasting.4 for fear that, if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we--not to say you yourselves--should be put to the blush in respect to this confidence.4 Lest whanne Macedonyes comen with me, and fynden you vnredi, we be schamed, that we seien you not, in this substaunce.4 lest by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we- not to mention you-should be put to shame in this confidence.4 Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting. 4 For if any of the Macedonians should come with me and find that you are not ready to give, we would be humiliated (not to mention you) by this confidence we had in you. 4 lest if some Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we (not to mention you!) should be ashamed of this confident boasting. [fn] 4 We would be embarrassed—not to mention your own embarrassment—if some Macedonian believers came with me and found that you weren't ready after all I had told them! 4 What if some of the people of Macedonia came with me and found you were not ready to send your gift of money? We would all be ashamed since we have talked of you so much. 4 otherwise, if some Macedonians come with me and find that you are not ready, we would be humiliated—to say nothing of you—in this undertaking.[a] 4 Lest by any means, if there should come with me Macedonians, and find you unprepared, we, - not to say, ye, - should be put to shame in this confidence.4 Lest, when the Macedonians shall come with me and find you unprepared, we (not to say ye) should be ashamed in this matter.4 lest if some Macedo'nians come with me and find that you are not ready, we be humiliated--to say nothing of you--for being so confident.4 lest paraveture yf they of Macedonia come with me and fynde you vnprepared the boost that I made in this matter shuld be a shame to vs: I saye not vnto you.4 lest if Macedonians may come with me, and find you unprepared, we -- we may be put to shame (that we say not -- ye) in this same confidence of boasting.4 lest if Macedonians may come with me, and find you unprepared, we may be put to shame (that we do not say—you) in this same confidence of boasting.4 lest whan they of Macedonia come with me, and fynde you vnprepared, we (I wyl not saye ye) shulde be ashamed in this presumpcion of boostinge.4 for if the Macedonians should come with me, and find you unprepared, how shall I, not to say you, be ashamed for having had so little ground to boast of you? 4 It would be an embarrassment to all of us if I showed up with some cowboys from Macedonia and y'all weren't ready after all. 5 Therefore I considered it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance the generous gift(C1) you promised, so that it will be ready as a gift and not as an extortion.(C2)

5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before vnto you, and make vp before hand your bountie, whereof yee had notice before, that the same might bee readie, as a matter of bountie, not of couetousnesse.

5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness. 5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the (h)gift[b] you have promised, so that it may be ready (i)as a willing gift, (j)not as an exaction.[c]5 So I considered it necessary to urge the (C1)brothers that they go on ahead to you and arrange in advance your previously promised (F1)(C2)generous gift, that the same would be ready as a (F1)(C3)generous gift, and not as one grudgingly given due to greediness.

5 So I thought I should ask these brothers to go to you before we do. They will finish getting in order the generous gift you promised so it will be ready when we come. And it will be a generous gift—not one that you did not want to give.5 That is why I thought it necessary to urge these (C1)brothers to go to you before I come and make arrangements in advance for this (C2)generous, previously promised gift of yours, so that it would be ready, not as (C3)something extorted or wrung out of you, but as a voluntary and (C4)generous gift.

5 So I thought it necessary to urge the (C1)brethren that they would go on ahead to you and arrange beforehand your previously promised (F1)(C2)bountiful gift, so that the same would be ready as a (F1)(C3)bountiful gift and not (F2)(C4)affected by covetousness.

5 So I regarded it necessary to encourage the (C1)brothers that they would go on ahead to you and arrange beforehand your previously promised (C2)blessing, so that the same would be ready as a (C3)blessing and not as a (F1)(C4)begrudging obligation.

5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you beforehand and make arrangements for the bountiful gift you had promised. This way, your gift will be prepared generously and not begrudgingly. 5 So I have decided to ask Titus and the others to spend some time with you before I arrive. This way they can arrange to collect the money you have promised. Then you will have the chance to give because you want to, and not because you feel forced to. 5 So I thought it necessary to urge these brothers to go on to you ahead of me and prepare your promised gift in plenty of time; this way it will be ready when I come and will be a genuine gift, not something extracted by pressure.

5 I thought it necessary therefore to beg the brethren that they would come to you, and complete beforehand your fore-announced blessing, that this may be ready thus as blessing, and not as got out of you. 5 So I thought that I should ask these brothers to come there before we do. They will help in getting together the generous gift you promised. Then it will be ready when we come, and it will be seen as a blessing you are giving, not as something you were forced to do.5 Wherefore, I thought it necessarie to exhort the brethren to come before vnto you, and to finish your beneuolence appointed afore, that it might be readie, and come as of beneuolence, and not as of niggardlinesse.5 Therefore I thought it necessary to ask these, my brethren, to go before me to you, and make ready in advance the contribution, of which you have long ago been notified, that you might have it ready as a contribution and not as though it were forced on you. 5 So I thought it was necessary to urge these believers to go to you ahead of me and get ready in advance the gift you promised to make. Then it will be ready when I arrive, and it will show that you give because you want to, not because you have to. 5 Therefore I considered it necessary to urge the brothers that they should go on ahead to you and make arrangements in advance for your generous gift that was promised previously, so this would be prepared as a generous gift and not as grudgingly granted.5 Therefore, I thought it necessary to exhort the brothers, that they go forward to you and arrange beforehand your promised blessing, this to be ready, thus as a blessing and not as by greediness. 5 I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your aforepromised [c]bounty, that the same might be ready as a matter of bounty, and not of [d]extortion.5 So it seemed to me wise for the brothers to go before, and see that the amount which you had undertaken to give was ready, so that it might be a cause for praise, and not as if we were making profit out of you.5 I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you, and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness. 5 Therefore, I thought it necessary to urge these brothers to visit you ahead of me, to make arrangements in advance for this gift you promised, and to have it ready as something given generously and not forced. 5 5 For this cause I have been careful to entreat of these brethren to go before to you, to make ready that blessing of which you have caused to be heard before; that it may be prepared, so as that it may be [fn] a blessing, [fn] not as [fn] avarice.

5 Therefore I was careful to request these my brethren, to go before me unto you, that they might make up this benefaction, of which ye were advised long before to have it ready, as being a benefaction, and not a matter of cupidity.5 Therfore, I thought it necessarie to exhort the brethren, to come beforehand vnto you, and to prepare your good blessyng promised afore, that it myght be redy, so that it be as a blessyng, and not a defraudyng.5 I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your aforepromised bounty, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not of extortion. 5 I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers that they would go before to you, and arrange ahead of time the generous gift that you promised before, that the same might be ready as a matter of generosity, and not of greediness. 5 Therefore I thought it necessary, to desire the brethren to go before to you, and compleat this your bounty, which had been spoken of before, that it may be ready as a bounty, and not as a matter of covetousness.5 I have thought it absolutely necessary therefore to request these brethren to visit you before I myself come, and to make sure beforehand that the gift of love which you have already promised may be ready as a gift of love, and may not seem to have been something which I have extorted from you.5 Therfor Y gesside necessarie to preie britheren, that thei come bifore to you, and make redi this bihiyt blessyng to be redi, so as blessing, and not as aueryce.5 I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brothers, that they would go before to you, and make up beforehand your aforepromised bounty, that the same might be ready as a matter of bounty, and not of extortion.5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before to you, and make up before hand your bounty, of which ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as [a matter of] bounty, and not [of] covetousness. 5 Therefore I thought it necessary to urge these brothers to go to you in advance and to arrange ahead of time the generous contribution you had promised, so this may be ready as a generous gift and not as something you feel forced to do. 5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation. 5 So I thought I should send these brothers ahead of me to make sure the gift you promised is ready. But I want it to be a willing gift, not one given grudgingly. 5 That is why I asked these men to go ahead of me. They can see that the gift you promised is ready. In that way, it will be a true gift and not something you were made to do. 5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you, and arrange in advance for this bountiful gift that you have promised, so that it may be ready as a voluntary gift and not as an extortion.5 Necessary, therefore, I regarded it, to exhort the brethren that they would go forward unto you, and make up beforehand your previously- promised blessing. The same, to be ready - thus, as a blessing, and not as of constraint.5 Therefore I thought it necessary to desire the brethren that they would go to you before and prepare this blessing before promised, to be ready, so as a blessing, not as covetousness.5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brethren to go on to you before me, and arrange in advance for this gift you have promised, so that it may be ready not as an exaction but as a willing gift.5 Wherfore I thought it necessary to exhorte the brethren to come before hode vnto you forto prepare youre good blessynge promysed afore that it myght be redy: so yt it be a blessynge and not a defraudynge.5 Necessary, therefore, I thought [it] to exhort the brethren, that they may go before to you, and may make up before your formerly announced blessing, that this be ready, as a blessing, and not as covetousness.5 Therefore I thought [it] necessary to exhort the brothers, that they may go before to you, and may make up before your formerly announced blessing, that this be ready, as a blessing, and not as covetousness.5 Wherfore I thoughte it necessary to exhorte the brethren, to come before hande vnto you, for to prepare this blessynge promysed afore, that it mighte be ready, so that it be a blessynge, and not a defraudynge.5 I thought it therefore necessary to counsel the brethren to go before, and settle the management of the contribution by this previous notice, that it might have such dispatch, as shows a bountiful, and not a niggardly temper. 5 That's why I'm sending y'all the help before I get there to ensure that doesn't happen. The only thing I'm concerned about is y'all will give your gift grudgingly instead of willingly. Everyone talks big about giving while the money is still in their pocket.

6 The point is this:(F1) The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously.

6 But this I say, Hee which soweth sparingly, shall reape sparingly: and he which soweth bountifully, shall reape bountifully.

6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

The Cheerful Giver

6 The point is this: (k)whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully[d] will also reap bountifully.

6 Now I say this: (C1)the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows (F1)generously will also reap (F1)generously.

6 Remember this: The person who plants a little will have a small harvest, but the person who plants a lot will have a big harvest.

6 Now remember this: (C1)he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows (F1)generously that blessings may come to others will also reap (F1)generously and be blessed.

6 Now this I say, (C1)he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows (F1)bountifully will also reap (F1)bountifully.

6 Now this I say, (C1)he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows with blessing will also reap with blessing.

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

6 Remember this saying,

"A few seeds make
    a small harvest,
but a lot of seeds make
    a big harvest."

6 Here's the point: he who plants sparingly also harvests sparingly.

6 But this [is true], he that sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that sows in [the spirit of] blessing shall reap also in blessing:
