Commendable Ministers of God

1 And (C1)working together with Him, (C2)we also plead with you not to receive (C3)the grace of God in vain—

Paul’s Hardships and God’s Grace

1 As God’s fellow workers, then, we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.

1 We work together with God, and we beg you to make good use of God's kindness to you.

1 As God's fellow-workers we also urge you not to receive his grace and then do nothing with it.

1 But [as] fellow-workmen, we also beseech that ye receive not the grace of God in vain:

1 We are workers together with God. So we beg you: Don't let the grace that you received from God be for nothing.

1 So we therefore as workers together beseech you, that ye receiue not the grace of God in vaine.

1 SO we beseech you, as helpers, that the grace of God which you have received may not be in vain among you.

1 In our work together with God, then, we beg you who have received God's grace not to let it be wasted.

Afflictions of God's Servants

1 Now because we[a] are fellow workers, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

1 But working together, we also call on you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

1 And working together with him we entreat also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain

1 We then, working together with God, make our request to you not to take the grace of God to no purpose.

1 Working together, we entreat also that you not receive the grace of God in vain,

1 Since, then, we are working with God,[fn] we plead with you not to accept God's grace in vain.[xr]

1

1 And as helpers, we beseech of you that the grace of Aloha which you have received be not made ineffectual [fn] in you.

1 And as aiders we entreat of you, that the grace of God which ye have received, may not be ineffectual in you.

1 We also as helpers exhorte you, that ye receaue not the grace of God in vayne.

1 And working together [with him] we entreat also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain

1 Working together, we entreat also that you not receive the grace of God in vain,

1 We then, as fellow-labourers, do also exhort you, not to receive the grace of God in vain.

1 And you also we, as God's fellow workers, entreat not to be found to have received His grace to no purpose.

1 But we helpynge monesten, that ye resseyuen not the grace of God in veyn.

1 And working together [with him] we entreat also that you do not receive the grace of God in vain

1 We then, [as] co-workers [with him], beseech [you] also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

God's Suffering Servants

1 Now because we are fellow workers, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

1 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

1 As God's partners,[a] we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God's kindness and then ignore it.

Our Job to Do

1 We are working together with God. We ask you from our hearts not to receive God's loving-favor and then waste it.

1 As we work together with him,[a] we urge you also not to accept the grace of God in vain.

1 As co-workers, however, we also beseech, that, not in vain, the favour of God, ye welcome;

1 And we helping do exhort you that you receive not the grace of God in vain.

1 We as helpers therfore exhorte you, that ye receaue not ye grace of God in vayne.

1 Invested then with such a commission, I beseech you let not the offers of divine favour be made to you in vain. 1-10 Companions as we are in this work with you, we beg you, please don't squander one bit of this marvelous life God has given us. God reminds us,

I heard your call in the nick of time;
The day you needed me, I was there to help.

Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don't put it off; don't frustrate God's work by showing up late, throwing a question mark over everything we're doing. Our work as God's servants gets validated—or not—in the details. People are watching us as we stay at our post, alertly, unswervingly . . . in hard times, tough times, bad times; when we're beaten up, jailed, and mobbed; working hard, working late, working without eating; with pure heart, clear head, steady hand; in gentleness, holiness, and honest love; when we're telling the truth, and when God's showing his power; when we're doing our best setting things right; when we're praised, and when we're blamed; slandered, and honored; true to our word, though distrusted; ignored by the world, but recognized by God; terrifically alive, though rumored to be dead; beaten within an inch of our lives, but refusing to die; immersed in tears, yet always filled with deep joy; living on handouts, yet enriching many; having nothing, having it all.

Riding Our Country

1 Don't you realize the gift you've been given to be able to cowboy for God? Don't waste your new opportunity by living like you used to. 2 For he says:

2 (For he saith, I haue heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of saluation haue I succoured thee: beholde, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of saluation)

2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) 2 For he says,

(d)"In a favorable time I listened to you,
and in a day of salvation I have helped you."

Behold, (e)now is the (f)favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.2 for He says,

"(C1)AT A FAVORABLE TIME I LISTENED TO YOU,
AND ON A DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU."
Behold, now is "A FAVORABLE TIME," behold, now is "A DAY OF SALVATION"—

2 God says,

"At the right time I heard your prayers.
On the day of salvation I helped you." Isaiah 49:8

I tell you that the "right time" is now, and the "day of salvation" is now.2 For He says,

"(C1)AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME (the time of grace) I LISTENED TO YOU,
AND I HELPED YOU ON THE DAY OF SALVATION."
Behold, now is "THE ACCEPTABLE TIME," behold, now is "THE DAY OF SALVATION"— (VR1)

2 for He says,

"(C1)AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME I LISTENED TO YOU,
AND ON THE DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU."
Behold, now is "THE ACCEPTABLE TIME," behold, now is "THE DAY OF SALVATION"--2 for He says,

"(C1)AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME I LISTENED TO YOU,
AND ON THE DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU."
Behold, now is "THE ACCEPTABLE TIME," behold, now is "THE DAY OF SALVATION"—

2 For He says: “In the time of favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.&rdquo(a); Behold, now is the time of favor; now is the day of salvation! 2 In the Scriptures God says,

"When the time came,
    I listened to you,
and when you needed help,
    I came to save you."

That time has come. This is the day for you to be saved. 2 For he says,

"At the acceptable time I heard you;
in the day of salvation I helped you."[a]

2 (for he says, I have listened to thee in an accepted time, and I have helped thee in a day of salvation: behold, now [is the] well-accepted time; behold, now [the] day of salvation:) 2 God says,

"I heard you at the right time,
and I gave you help on the day of salvation." (a)

I tell you that the "right time" is now. The "day of salvation" is now.2 For he sayth, I haue heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of saluation haue I succoured thee: beholde nowe the accepted time, beholde nowe the day of saluation.2 For he said, I have answered you in an acceptable time, and I have helped you on the day of salvation: behold, now is the acceptable time; and behold now is the day of salvation. 2 (a)Hear what God says:

"When the time came for me to show you favor,
    I heard you;
when the day arrived for me to save you,
    I helped you."

Listen! This is the hour to receive God's favor; today is the day to be saved! 2 For he says,

"At the acceptable time I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you."[b]

Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation! 2 For He says, "In an acceptable time I heard you, and in a day of salvation I helped you." Behold, now is the acceptable time! Behold, now is the day of salvation! Isa. 49:8 2 (for he saith,

[a]At an acceptable time I hearkened unto thee,
And in a day of salvation did I succor thee:

behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation): 2 (For he says, I have given ear to you at a good time, and I have been your helper in a day of salvation: see, now is the good time; now is the day of salvation):2 for he says, "At an acceptable time I listened to you, In a day of salvation I helped you." Behold, now is the acceptable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 For he says,[xr] "At the right time I heard you, and on a day of salvation I helped you."[fn] Listen, now is really the "right time"! Now is the "day of salvation"! 2 For he hath said, In the time acceptable I have heard thee, And in the day of salvation I have helped thee. Behold, Now is the time acceptable; behold, Now is the day of salvation.2 For he hath said, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in the day of life I have aided thee. Behold, now is the acceptable time ! and behold, now is the day of life !2 For he saith: I haue heard thee in a tyme accepted, and in the day of saluation haue I suckoured thee. Beholde, nowe is that accepted tyme, beholde nowe is that day of saluation:2 (for he saith, At an acceptable time I hearkened unto thee, And in a day of salvation did I succour thee: behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation): 2 for he says, "At an acceptable time I listened to you, In a day of salvation I helped you." Behold, now is the acceptable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in an acceptable time, and in a day of salvation have I succoured thee. Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)2 For He says, "At a time of welcome I have listened to you, and on a day of salvation I have succoured you." Now is the time of loving welcome! Now is the day of salvation!2 For he seith, In tyme wel plesinge Y haue herd thee, and in the dai of heelthe Y haue helpid thee. Lo! now a tyme acceptable, lo! now a dai of heelthe.2 (for he says, At an acceptable time I listened to you, And in a day of salvation I helped you: look, now is the acceptable time; look, now is the day of salvation):2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now [is] the accepted time; behold, now [is] the day of salvation.) 2 For he says, "I heard you at the acceptable time, and in the day of salvation I helped you." Look, now is the acceptable time; look, now is the day of salvation! 2 For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you,And in the day of salvation I have helped you." [fn]
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 For God says,

"At just the right time, I heard you.
On the day of salvation, I helped you."[b]

Indeed, the "right time" is now. Today is the day of salvation. 2 The Holy Writings say, "I heard you at the right time. I helped you on that day to be saved from the punishment of sin. Now is the right time! See! Now is the day to be saved." (a) 2 For he says,

"At an acceptable time I have listened to you,
and on a day of salvation I have helped you."

See, now is the acceptable time; see, now is the day of salvation! 2 For he saith - In an approved season, have I hearkened unto thee, and, in a day of salvation, have succoured thee; - Lo! now, a well-approved season, Lo! now, a day of salvation:2 For he saith: In an accepted time have I heard thee and in the day of salvation have I helped thee. Behold, now is the acceptable time: behold, now is the day of salvation.2 For he says, "At the acceptable time I have listened to you, and helped you on the day of salvation." Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.2 For he saith: I have hearde the in a tyme accepted: and in ye daye of saluacion have I suckered the. Beholde now is that well accepted tyme: beholde now is yt daye of saluacion.2 for He saith, `In an acceptable time I did hear thee, and in a day of salvation I did help thee, lo, now [is] a well-accepted time; lo, now, a day of salvation,' --2 for He says, "In an acceptable time I heard you, and in a day of salvation I helped you, behold, now [is] a well-accepted time; behold, now, a day of salvation."2 For he sayeth: I haue herde the in the tyme accepted, and in the daye of saluacion haue I succoured the. Beholde, now is the accepted tyme, now is the daye of saluacion.2 for he saith, " I have heard thee in a favourable time, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee." now this is the favourable time; this is that day of salvation. 2 God said, "Just in the nick of time, I heard you cry out for help and I saved you."

Now is the time to listen. Today is the day to be saved.

At an acceptable time I listened to you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you.(F1)(C1)

See, now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation!(C2)

The Character of Paul’s Ministry

3 We are not giving anyone an occasion for offense, so that the ministry will not be blamed. 3 Giuing no offence in any thing, that the ministery be not blamed:

3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: 3 We (g)put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry,3 (C1)giving no reason for taking offense in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited,

3 We do not want anyone to find fault with our work, so nothing we do will be a problem for anyone. 3 (C1)we put no obstruction in anyone's path, so that the ministry will not be discredited,3 (C1)giving no cause for offense in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited,3 (C1)giving no cause for offense in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited,3 We put no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no one can discredit our ministry.

3 We don't want anyone to find fault with our work, and so we try hard not to cause problems.

3 We try not to put obstacles in anyone's path, so that no one can find fault with the work we do.

3 giving no manner of offence in anything, that the ministry be not blamed;

3 We don't want people to find anything wrong with our work. 3 We do not want anyone to find fault with our work, so we try not to put obstacles in anyone's way. 3 We are giving no one an occasion for taking offense in anything, in order that our ministry will not have fault found with it, 3 We are not giving a cause of stumbling, in nothing, that the ministry may not be blamed, 3 giving no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our ministration be not blamed; 3 Giving no cause for trouble in anything, so that no one may be able to say anything against our work;3 We give no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our service may not be blamed, 3 We do not put an obstacle in anyone's way. Otherwise, fault may be found with our ministry.[xr] 3 Nor in any thing give to any man occasion of stumbling, that no blemish may be upon our ministry;3 Give ye no occasion of offence to any one in any thing, that there may be no reproach on our ministry.3 Let vs geue none occasion of euyll in any thyng, that the ministerie be not blamed:3 giving no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our ministration be not blamed; 3 We give no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our service may not be blamed, 3 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed, But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God,3 We endeavour to give people no cause for stumbling in anything, lest the work we are doing should fall into discredit.3 Yyue we to no man ony offencioun, that oure seruyce be not repreued;3 giving no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our service not be blamed;3 Giving no offense in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: 3 We do not give anyone an occasion for taking an offense in anything, so that no fault may be found with our ministry. 3 We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed.

Paul's Hardships

3 We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry. 3 We do not want to put anything in the way that would keep people from God. We do not want to be blamed. 3 We are putting no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, 3 Giving, no single, occasion of stumbling, in anything, that the ministry be not blamed;3 Giving no offence to any man, that our ministry be not blamed.3 We put no obstacle in any one's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry,3 Let vs geve no man occasion of evyll that in oure office be founde no faute:3 in nothing giving any cause of offence, that the ministration may be not blamed,3 In nothing giving any cause of offense, that the ministry may not be blamed,3 Let vs geue no man occasion of euell, that oure office be not euell spoken of:3 as for us, we give no occasion of offence, that our ministry may not be blamed:

3 We never ride in a way that would cause someone else to doubt who we are. We don't ride in front of anyone or do anything that would make someone question who we were. 4 Instead, as God’s ministers, we commend ourselves in everything: by great endurance, by afflictions, by hardships, by difficulties, 4 But in all things approuing our selues, as the Ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 4 but (h)as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: (i)by great endurance, (j)in afflictions, (k)hardships, calamities,4 but in everything (C1)commending ourselves as (F1)(C2)servants of God, (C3)in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in difficulties, 4 But in every way we show we are servants of God: in accepting many hard things, in troubles, in difficulties, and in great problems. 4 but we (C1)commend ourselves in every way as (C2)servants of God: (C3)in great endurance, in sufferings, in hardships, in distresses,4 but in everything (C1)commending ourselves as (F1)(C2)servants of God, (C3)in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses,4 but in everything (C1)commending ourselves as (C2)ministers of God, (C3)in much perseverance, in afflictions, in distresses, in hardships,4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships, and calamities; 4 But in everything and in every way we show that we truly are God's servants. We have always been patient, though we have had a lot of trouble, suffering, and hard times. 4 On the contrary, we try to commend ourselves in every way as workers for God by continually enduring troubles, hardships, calamities,

4 but in everything commending ourselves as God's ministers, in much endurance, in afflictions, in necessities, in straits, 4 But in every way we show that we are servants of God. We never give up, even though we face troubles, difficulties, and problems of every kind.4 But in all things we approue our selues as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,4 But in all things let us show ourselves, to be the ministers of God, in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in imprisonment, 4 Instead, in everything we do we show that we are God's servants by patiently enduring troubles, hardships, and difficulties. 4 but commending ourselves as servants of God in every way, in much endurance, in afflictions, in distresses, in difficulties, 4 but in everything commending ourselves as God's servants, in much patience, in afflictions, in emergencies, in difficulties, 4 but in everything commending ourselves, as ministers of God, in much [b]patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 4 But in everything making it clear that we are the servants of God, in quiet strength, in troubles, in need, in sorrow,4 but in everything commending ourselves, as servants of God, in great endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses, 4 Instead, in every way we demonstrate that we are God's servants by tremendous endurance in the midst of difficulties, hardships, and calamities;[xr] 4 but in every thing will we demonstrate ourselves that we are the ministers of Aloha; by much patience, by afflictions, by necessity, by imprisonments,4 But we, in all things, would show ourselves to be the ministers of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in necessity, in distresses,4 But in all thynges let vs behaue our selues as ye ministers of God, in much pacience, in afflictions, in necessities, in anguisshes,4 but in everything commending ourselves, as ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 4 but in everything commending ourselves, as servants of God, in great endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses, 4 in much patience, in afflictions,4 On the contrary, as God's servants, we seek their full approval--by unwearied endurance, by afflictions, by distress, by helplessness;4 but in alle thingis yyue we vs silf as the mynystris of God, in myche pacience, in tribulaciouns,4 but in everything commending ourselves, as servants of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,4 But in all [things] approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 4 But as God's servants, we have commended ourselves in every way, with great endurance, in persecutions, in difficulties, in distresses, 4 But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses, 4 In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind. 4 Everything we do shows we are God's servants. We have had to wait and suffer. We have needed things. We have been in many hard places and have had many troubles. 4 but as servants of God we have commended ourselves in every way: through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, 4 But, in everything, commending ourselves as God's ministers, - in much endurance, in tribulations, in necessities, in straits,4 But in all things let us exhibit ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in tribulation, in necessities, in distresses,4 but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities,4 but in all thynges let vs behave oure selves as the ministers of God.
