2 Corinthians 12

   |

Sufficient Grace

1 Boasting is necessary. It is not profitable, but I will move on to visions(C1) and revelations(C2) of the Lord.

1 It is not expedient for me, doubtlesse, to glory, I wil come to visions and reuelations of the Lord.

1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

Paul's Visions and His Thorn

1 I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and (a)revelations of the Lord.

Paul's Vision

1 (C1)Boasting is necessary, though it is not beneficial; but I will go on to visions and (C2)revelations (F1)of the Lord.

A Special Blessing in Paul's Life

1 I must continue to brag. It will do no good, but I will talk now about visions and revelations[a] from the Lord.

Paul's Vision

1 It is necessary to (C1)boast, though nothing is gained by it; but I will go on to visions and (C2)revelations of the Lord.

Paul's Vision

1 (C1)Boasting is necessary, though it is not profitable; but I will go on to visions and (C2)revelations (F1)of the Lord.

A Vision of Paradise

1 (C1)It is necessary to boast, though it is not profitable, but I will go on to visions and (C2)revelations (F1)of the Lord.

Paul’s Revelation

1 I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to gain, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.

Visions from the Lord

1 I have to brag. There is nothing to be gained by it, but I must brag about the visions and other things that the Lord has shown me.

1 I have to boast. There is nothing to be gained by it, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 Well, it is not of profit to me to boast, for I will come to visions and revelations of [the] Lord.

A Special Blessing in Paul's Life

1 There is more that I have to say about myself. It won't help, but I will talk now about visions and revelations from the Lord.

1 It is not expedient for me no doubt to reioyce: for I will come to visions and reuelations of the Lorde.

1 BOASTING is proper, but there is no advantage in it, and I prefer to relate the visions and revelations of our LORD.

Paul's Visions and Revelations

1 I have to boast, even though it doesn't do any good. But I will now talk about visions and revelations given me by the Lord.

A Vision of Paradise

1 It is necessary to boast; it is not profitable, but I will proceed to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 Really, to boast is not profitable to me, for I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 [a]I must needs glory, though it is not expedient; but I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 As it is necessary for me to take glory to myself, though it is not a good thing, I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. For I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 I must boast, although it does not do any good. I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.

1 I might boast, but it is not expedient; for I come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 Glorying must be, but it is not profitable: so I proceed to visions and revelations of our Lord.

1 It is not expedient doubtles, for me to glorie, I wyl come to visions & reuelations of the Lorde.

1 I must needs glory, though it is not expedient; but I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. For I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 Surely it is not expedient for me to boast: yet I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 I am compelled to boast. It is not a profitable employment, but I will proceed to visions and revelations granted me by the Lord.

1 If it bihoueth to haue glorie, it spedith not; but Y schal come to the visiouns and to the reuelaciouns of the Lord.

1 I must surely glory, though it is not expedient; but I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

Paul's Thorn in the Flesh

1 It is necessary to go on boasting. Though it is not profitable, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.

1 It is doubtless [fn] not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord:

Paul's Vision and His Thorn in the Flesh

1 This boasting will do no good, but I must go on. I will reluctantly tell about visions and revelations from the Lord.

Paul Sees Something True in a Special Dream

1 I have to talk about myself, even if it does no good. But I will keep on telling about some things I saw in a special dream and that which the Lord has shown me.

Paul's Visions and Revelations

1 It is necessary to boast; nothing is to be gained by it, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 To be boasting, is needful, - it is not, indeed, profitable, yet will I come to visions and revelations of the Lord: -

1 If I must glory (it is not expedient indeed) but I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 I must boast; there is nothing to be gained by it, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 It is not expediet for me (no dout to reioyce. Neverthelesse I will come to visions and revelacios of ye lorde.

1 To boast, really, is not profitable for me, for I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.

1 To boast, really, is not profitable for me, for I will come to visions and revelations of the LORD.

1 It profiteth me nothinge (no doute) to boaste. Neuertheles I wil come to ye visions and reuelacions off the LORDE.

1 Have not I reason to glory? for now I shall mention my visions and revelations from the Lord. 1-5 You've forced me to talk this way, and I do it against my better judgment. But now that we're at it, I may as well bring up the matter of visions and revelations that God gave me. For instance, I know a man who, fourteen years ago, was seized by Christ and swept in ecstasy to the heights of heaven. I really don't know if this took place in the body or out of it; only God knows. I also know that this man was hijacked into paradise—again, whether in or out of the body, I don't know; God knows. There he heard the unspeakable spoken, but was forbidden to tell what he heard. This is the man I want to talk about. But about myself, I'm not saying another word apart from the humiliations.

A Mesquite Thorn in the Hide

1 Ok, that's enough of that. I could go on and on, but I guess I need to tell y'all about what God showed me and told me. 2 I know a man in Christ who was caught up(C1) to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether he was in the body or out of the body, I don’t know; God knows. 2 I knewe a man in Christ aboue foureteene yeeres agoe, whether in the body, I cannot tell, or whether out of the body, I cannot tell, God knoweth: such a one, caught vp to the third heauen.

I do not know whether the man was in his body or out of his body, but God knows. 2 I know a (F1)man (C1)in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, only (C2)God knows—such a man was (C3)caught up to the (F2)(C4)third heaven. (VR1)2 I know a man (C1)in Christ who fourteen years ago--whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, (C2)God knows--such a man was (C3)caught up to the (C4)third heaven.2 I know a man (C1)in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, (C2)God knows—such a man was (C3)caught up to the (C4)third heaven.2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. [fn] 2 2 I knew a man in the Messiah fourteen years ago, (but whether in a body, or whether out of a body, I know not; God knoweth:) who was caught up to the third [fn] of heaven. 2 For I knew a ma in Christe, aboue xiiij. yeres ago, (whether [he were] in the body I can not tell, or whether [he were] out of the body, I can not tell, God knoweth) that he was taken vp into the thirde heauen:2 I know a man in Christ, fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I know not; or whether out of the body, I know not; God knoweth), such a one caught up even to the third heaven. 2 I know a man in Christ, fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I don't know, or whether out of the body, I don't know; God knows), such a one caught up into the third heaven. 2 I knew a man in Christ, above fourteen years ago (whether in the body I know not, or out of the body I know not; God knoweth) such an one caught up to the third heaven.2 I know a Christian man who fourteen years ago-- whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know; God knows--was caught up (this man of whom I am speaking) even to the highest Heaven.2 I woot a man in Crist that bifore fouretene yeer; whether in bodi, whether out of the bodi, Y woot not, God woot; that siche a man was rauyschid `til to the thridde heuene.2 I know a man in Christ, fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I don't know; or whether out of the body, I don't know; God knows), such a one caught up even to the third heaven.2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such one caught up to the third heaven. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows) was caught up to the third heaven. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago--whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows--such a one was caught up to the third heaven. 2 I[a] was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don't know—only God knows. 2 I know a man who belongs to Christ. Fourteen years ago he was taken up to the highest heaven. (I do not know if his body was taken up or just his spirit. Only God knows.) 2 I know a person in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows. 2 I know a man in Christ, who, fourteen years ago, whether in the body, I know not, or out of the body, I know not, God, knoweth, such a one as this, caught away, as far as the third heaven;2 I know a man in Christ: above fourteen years ago (whether in the body, I know not, or out of the body, I know not: God knoweth), such a one caught up to the third heaven.2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven--whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows.2 I knowe a ma in Christ above .xiiij. yeares agone (whether he weare in ye body I cannot tell or whether he were oute of ye body I canot tell god knoweth) which was take vp into the thyrd heven.2 I have known a man in Christ, fourteen years ago -- whether in the body I have not known, whether out of the body I have not known, God hath known -- such an one being caught away unto the third heaven;2 I have known a man in Christ, fourteen years ago—whether in the body I have not known, whether out of the body I have not known, God has known—such a one being snatched up to the third heaven;2 I knowe a man in Christ aboue fourtene yeares a goo (whether he was in ye body, I can not tell: or whether he was out of the body, I can not tell, God knoweth.) the same was taken vp in to the thirde heauen:2 I knew a christian who above fourteen years ago, was snatch'd up even to the third heaven, whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knows. 2 I was swept from the saddle and taken far beyond the earth fourteen years ago. Now, whether this was done in spirit or my actual body, only God knows. 3 I know that this man—whether in the body or out of the body I don’t know; God knows— 3 And I knew such a man (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell, God knoweth.)

3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 3 And I know that this man was caught up into (f)paradise—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, (g)God knows—3 And I know how such a man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, (C1)God knows—3-4 And I know that this man was taken up to paradise.[b] I don't know if he was in his body or away from his body, but God knows. He heard things he is not able to explain, things that no human is allowed to tell. 3 And I know that such a man—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, only (C1)God knows—3 And I know how such a man--whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, (C1)God knows--3 And I know how such a man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, (C1)God knows—3 And I know that this man—whether in the body or out of it I do not know, but God knows—

3 As I said, only God really knows if this man was in his body at the time. 3 And I know that such a man — whether in the body or apart from the body I don't know, God knows —

3 And I know such a man, (whether in [the] body or out of the body I know not, God knows;)3-4 And I know that this man was taken up to paradise. I don't know if he was in his body or away from his body, but he heard things that he is not able to explain. He heard things that no one is allowed to tell. 3 And I knowe such a man (whether in the body, or out of the body, I can not tell: God knoweth)3 And I still know this man, but whether in the body or whether without the body, I cannot tell; God knows;3-4 I repeat, I know that this man was snatched to Paradise (again, I do not know whether this actually happened or whether it was a vision—only God knows), and there he heard things which cannot be put into words, things that human lips may not speak. 3 and I know this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows—3 And I know such a man--whether in the body or out of the body, I do not know; God knows-- 3 And I know such a man (whether in the body, or apart from the body, I know not; God knoweth), 3 And I have knowledge of such a man (if he was in the body, or out of the body, I am not able to say, but God only),3 I know such a man (whether in the body, or outside of the body, I don't know; God knows), 3 I know that this man - whether in his body or outside of his body, I do not know, but God knows - 3 And I know this man himself,-but whether in the body, or out of the body, I know not, Aloha himself knoweth,3 And I knew this same man; (but whether in a body, or out of a body, I know not; God knoweth;)3 And I knewe the same man (whether in the body or out of the body, I can not tell, God knoweth)3 And I know such a man (whether in the body, or apart from the body, I know not; God knoweth), 3 I know such a man (whether in the body, or outside of the body, I don't know; God knows), 3 Yea, I knew such a man (whether in the body or out of the body, I know not, God knoweth) That he was caught up into paradise,3 And I know that this man-- whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know;3 And Y woot sich a man; whether in bodi, or out of bodi, Y noot, God woot;3 And I know such a man (whether in the body, or apart from the body, I don't know; God knows),3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 3 And I know that this man (whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows) 3 And I know such a man--whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows-- 3 Yes, only God knows whether I was in my body or outside my body. But I do know 3 I say it again, I know this man was taken up. But I do not know if his body or just his spirit was taken up. Only God knows. 3 And I know that such a person—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows— 3 And I know such a man as this, whether in the body or apart from the body, I know not, - God, knoweth,3 And I know such a man (whether in the body, or out of the body, I know not: God knoweth):3 And I know that this man was caught up into Paradise--whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows--3 And I knowe the same man (whether in the body or out of the body I canot tell god knoweth)3 and I have known such a man -- whether in the body, whether out of the body, I have not known, God hath known, --3 and I have known such a man—whether in the body, whether out of the body, I have not known, God has known—3 and I knowe the same man (whether he was in ye body or out of the body, I can not tell, God knoweth)3 but tho' I don't know whether it was in the body, or out of the body, which God only knows, 3 Listen close, I don't know if my body made the trip or just my mind. Like I said, only God knows. 4 was caught up into paradise(C1) and heard inexpressible words, which a human being is not allowed to speak. 4 How that he was caught vp into Paradise, and heard vnspeakeable wordes, which it is not lawfull for a man to vtter.

4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 4 and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.4 was (C1)caught up into (C2)Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak.4 was (C1)caught up into (F1)(C2)Paradise and heard inexpressible words which man is not permitted to speak words too sacred to tell.4 was (C1)caught up into (C2)Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak.4 was (C1)caught up into (C2)Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak.4 was caught up into Paradise. The things he heard were too sacred for words, things that man is not permitted to tell. 4 But he was taken up into paradise,[a] where he heard things that are too wonderful to tell. 4 was snatched into Gan-‘Eden and heard things that cannot be put into words, things unlawful for a human being to utter.

4 that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable things said which it is not allowed to man to utter.4 How that he was taken vp into Paradise, and heard words which cannot be spoken, which are not possible for man to vtter.4 How that he was caught up to paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 4 that he was caught up to paradise and heard words not to be spoken, which it is not permitted for a person to speak. 4 that he was caught up into Paradise and heard unspeakable words which a man is not permitted to speak. 4 how that he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 4 How he was taken up into Paradise, and words came to his ears which may not be said, and which man is not able to say.4 how he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 4 was snatched away to Paradise and heard things that cannot be expressed in words, things that no human being has a right even to mention.[xr] 4 -and he was rapt into paradise, and heard words which are not uttered, those which it is not lawful for a man to utter.4 and he was caught up to Paradise, and heard ineffable words, which it is not permitted a man to utter.4 Howe that he was take vp into paradise, & hearde vnspeakeable wordes, which is not lawfull for man to vtter.4 how that he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 4 how he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 4 and heard unspeakable things, which it is not possible for man to utter.4 God knows--was caught up into Paradise and heard unspeakable things which no human being is permitted to repeat.4 that he was rauyschid in to paradis, and herde preuy wordis, whiche it is not leueful to a man to speke.4 how that he was caught up into Paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.4 That he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 4 was caught up into paradise and heard things too sacred to be put into words, things that a person is not permitted to speak. 4 how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 4 that I was caught up[b] to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell. 4 When he was in the highest heaven, he heard things that cannot be told with words. No man is allowed to tell them. 4 was caught up into Paradise and heard things that are not to be told, that no mortal is permitted to repeat. 4 How that he was caught away into paradise, and heard unspeakable things, which it is not allowable for a man to utter:4 That he was caught up into paradise and heard secret words which it is not granted to man to utter.4 and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.4 howe yt he was take vp into paradise and hearde wordes not to be spoke which no man can vtter.4 that he was caught away to the paradise, and heard unutterable sayings, that it is not possible for man to speak.4 that he was snatched up to the paradise, and heard unutterable sayings, that it is not possible for man to speak.4 how that he was take vp in to Paradise, and herde wordes not to be spoken, which no man can vtter.4 this I know, that he was snatch'd up into paradise, and heard such secrets as it is not lawful for a man to reveal. 4 But I was taken to a place of paradise. I heard things that are too much to repeat and saw things that no words can describe. These were things I'm not allowed to share.

5 I will boast about this person, but not about myself, except of my weaknesses.

5 Of such a one will I glory, yet of my selfe I will not glory, but in mine infirmities.

5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. 5 On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, (h)except of my weaknesses—5 (C1)In behalf of such a man I will boast; but in my own behalf I will not boast, except regarding my (C2)weaknesses. 5 I will brag about a man like that, but I will not brag about myself, except about my weaknesses. 5 (C1)On behalf of such a man and his experiences I will boast; but in my own behalf I will not boast, except in regard to my (C2)weaknesses.5 (C1)On behalf of such a man I will boast; but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in regard to my (C2)weaknesses.5 (C1)On behalf of such a man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in (C2)weaknesses.

Paul’s Thorn and God’s Grace

5 I will boast about such a man, but I will not boast about myself, except in my weaknesses. 5 I will brag about that man, but not about myself, except to say how weak I am. 5 About such a man I will boast; but about myself I will not boast, except in regard to my weaknesses.

5 Of such [a one] I will boast, but of myself I will not boast, unless in my weaknesses. 5 I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself. I will boast only about my weaknesses.5 Of such a man will I reioyce: of my selfe will I not reioyce, except it bee of mine infirmities.5 Of such a person, I will boast; but of myself, I will not boast, except in my weaknesses. 5 So I will boast about this man—but I will not boast about myself, except the things that show how weak I am. 5 On behalf of such a person I will boast, but on behalf of myself I will not boast, except in my weaknesses. 5 On behalf of such a one I will boast. But I will not boast on my behalf, except in my weaknesses. 5 On behalf of such a one will I glory: but on mine own behalf I will not glory, save in my weaknesses. 5 On account of such a one I will have glory: for myself I will take no glory, but only in my feeble body.5 On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in my weaknesses. 5 I will boast about this man, but as for myself I will boast only about my weaknesses.[xr] 5 Of this I boast; but of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities.5 Of him I will glory: but of myself I will not glory, except in my infirmities.5 Of such a man wyll I glorie, yet of my selfe wyll I not glorie, but in myne infirmities.5 On behalf of such a one will I glory: but on mine own behalf I will not glory, save in [my] weaknesses. 5 On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in my weaknesses. 5 Of such an one I will glory; but I will not glory of myself, unless in my infirmities.5 Of such a one I will boast; but of myself I will not boast, except in my weaknesses.5 For such maner thingis Y schal glorie; but for me no thing, no but in myn infirmytees.5 On behalf of such a one I will glory: but on my own behalf I will not glory, save in [my] weaknesses.5 Of such one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in my infirmities. 5 On behalf of such an individual I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except about my weaknesses. 5 Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities.

5 That experience is worth boasting about, but I'm not going to do it. I will boast only about my weaknesses. 5 I will be proud about this man, but I will not be proud about myself except to say things which show how weak I am. 5 On behalf of such a one I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses. 5 On behalf of such a one as this, will I boast, but, on behalf of myself, will I not boast, save in my weaknesses; - 5 For such an one I will glory: but for myself I will glory nothing but in my infirmities.5 On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses.5 Of this man will I reioyce of my silfe will I not reioyce except it be of myne infirmities.5 Of such an one I will boast, and of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities,5 Of such a one I will boast, and of myself I will not boast, except in my weaknesses,5 Here of will I boast, but of my selfe wil I make no boast, excepte it be of myne infirmyties.5 I might glory in being the man; but I will not glory in any thing relating to myself, unless it be my sufferings.

5 I wish I could brag about the things I heard and saw, but I'm not going to. I'm only going to brag about my weaknesses.

6 For if I want to boast, I wouldn’t be a fool, because I would be telling the truth.(C1) But I will spare you, so that no one can credit me with something beyond what he sees in me or hears from me, 6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a foole: for I will say the trueth. But now I forbeare, lest any man should thinke of me aboue that which hee seeth me to bee, or that hee heareth of me:

6 For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. 6 though if I should wish to boast, (i)I would not be a fool, for I would be speaking the truth; but I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me.6 For if I do wish to boast I will not be (C1)foolish, (C2)for I will be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me. 6 But if I wanted to brag about myself, I would not be a fool, because I would be telling the truth. But I will not brag about myself. I do not want people to think more of me than what they see me do or hear me say.6 If I wish to boast, I will not be (C1)foolish, (C2)because I will be speaking the truth. But I abstain from it, so that no one will credit me with more than is justified by what he sees in me or hears from me.6 For if I do wish to boast I will not be (C1)foolish, (C2)for I will be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me.6 For if I do wish to boast I will not be (C1)foolish, (C2)for I will be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one will consider me beyond what he sees in me or hears from me.6 Even if I wanted to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me,

6 Yet even if I did brag, I would not be foolish. I would simply be speaking the truth. But I will try not to say too much. That way, none of you will think more highly of me than you should because of what you have seen me do and say. 6 If I did want to boast, I would not be foolish; because I would be speaking the truth. But, because of the extraordinary greatness of the revelations, I refrain, so that no one will think more of me than what my words or deeds may warrant.

6 For if I shall desire to boast, I shall not be a fool; for I will say [the] truth; but I forbear, lest any one should think as to me above what he sees me [to be], or whatever he may hear of me.

6 But if I wanted to say more about myself, I would not be a fool, because I would be telling the truth. But I won't say any more, because I don't want people to think more of me than what they see me do or hear me say.6 For though I woulde reioyce, I should not be a foole, for I will say the trueth: but I refraine, lest any man should thinke of me aboue that hee seeth in me, or that he heareth of me.6 But even if I would desire to boast, I shall not be a fool; for I will tell the truth: but now I refrain, lest any one should think more of me than what he sees me to be and what he hears from me. 6 If I wanted to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be telling the truth. But I will not boast, because I do not want any of you to have a higher opinion of me than you have as a result of what you have seen me do and heard me say.
