1 Then Solomon said:(C1)

1 Then spoke Shlomo, the LORD has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

1 Then Solomon said: “The LORD said that He would dwell in the thick cloud;

"Our Lord, you said that you
    would live in a dark cloud.

1 Then said Solomon: Jehovah said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

1 Then Solomon said, "The Lord chose to live in a dark cloud.

1 THEN Solomon said, O LORD, thou hast declared that thou wouldst dwell in the thick darkness.

Solomon's Address to the People(a)

1 Then King Solomon prayed,
"Lord, you have chosen to live in clouds and darkness.

Solomon Blesses the People

1 Then Solomon said, "Yahweh has decided[a] to dwell in the deep gloom.

1 Then Solomon spoke, Jehovah has said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.

1 Then sayde Salomon: The LORDE sayde, that he wolde dwell in a darck cloude:

1 Then spake Solomon, Jehovah hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

1 Then Solomon said, O Lord, to the sun you have given the heaven for a living-place, but your living-place was not seen by men,

1 Then Solomon sayde: The Lord hath spoken, howe that he wil dwell in the darcke cloude.

1 Then spoke Solomon: The LORD hath said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.

1 Then said Solomon, The Lord hath said that he would dwell in the thicke darkenesse.

1 Then said Solomon, The Lord said that he would dwell in thick darkness.

1 Then spake Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

1 Thanne Salomon seide, The Lord bihiyte, that he wolde dwelle in derknesse;

1 Then said Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

1 Then Solomon spoke: "The LORD said He would dwell in the dark cloud.

1 Then Solomon prayed, "O Lord, you have said that you would live in a thick cloud of darkness.

1 Then Solomon said, "The Lord has said that He would live in the thick cloud.

Dedication of the Temple

1 Then Solomon said, "The Lord has said that he would reside in thick darkness.

1 Then, said Solomon, - Yahweh, said, that he would make his habitation in thick gloom;

1 Then Solomon said: The Lord promised that he would dwell in a cloud.

1 Then Solomon said, "The LORD has said that he would dwell in thick darkness.

1 Then said Solomon, `Jehovah said -- to dwell in thick darkness,

1 Then Solomon said, "YHWH said [He would] dwell in thick darkness,1-2 Then Solomon said,

God said he would dwell in a cloud,
But I've built a temple most splendid,
A place for you to live in forever.

Solomon's Dedication

1 (C1)Then Solomon said,

"The LORD has said that He would dwell in the thick cloud.

The Lord said he would dwell in total darkness,(C2)
2 but I have built an exalted temple for you,
a place for your residence forever.

2 But I have built you a house of habitation, and a place for you to dwell in forever.

2 But I have built an house of habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for ever. 2 But I have built you (b)an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever." 2 Lord, I have built a wonderful Temple for you—a place for you to live forever." 2 O Lord, I have built a lofty temple for you, a place where you can live permanently."

2 "I have built You a lofty house,
A place for You to dwell forever."

2 "I have built You a lofty house,
And a place for Your dwelling forever."

2 But I have built you a house of habitation, and a place for you to dwell in forever. 2 And I haue built thee an house to dwell in, an habitation for thee to dwell in for euer.

2 "Now I have built You a lofty house,
And a place for Your dwelling forever."

2 and I have built You an exalted house, a place for You to dwell forever.”
2 Now I've built a glorious temple
    where you can live forever." 2 But I have built you a magnificent house, a place where you can live forever."

2 But I have built a house of habitation for thee, even a settled place for thee to abide in for ever. 2 But, Lord, I have built a beautiful house for you to live in forever."2 But I have built a house of habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for ever.
2 Now I have built a majestic temple for you,
    a place for you to live in forever." 2 But I have built for you an exalted house, even a place for you to dwell in forever." 2 And I have surely built an exalted house for You, and a place for You to dwell forever.2 I haue buylded an house to be an habitacion vnto the: & a seate, yt thou mayest dwell there for euer. 2 But I have built thee a house of habitation, and a place for thee to dwell in for ever. 2 So I have made for you a living-place, a house in which you may be for ever present.2 And I haue buylt thee an house of habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for euer.2 But I have built Thee a house of habitation, and a place for Thee to dwell in for ever.2 But I haue built an house of habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for euer. 2 But I have built a house to thy name, holy to thee, and prepared for thee to dwell in for ever. 2 But I have built thee an house of habitation, and a place for thee to dwell in for ever. 2 forsothe I haue bilde an hows to his name, that he schulde dwelle there with outen ende.2 But I have built you a house of habitation, and a place for you to dwell in forever.2 But I have built a house of habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for ever.2 I have surely built You an exalted house, And a place for You to dwell in forever." 2 Now I have built a glorious Temple for you, a place where you can live forever!" 2 I have built a great house for You. It is a place for You to live in forever." 2 I have built you an exalted house, a place for you to reside in forever."2 But, I, have built a house as a home for thee, - A settled place for thee to abide in, for ages.2 But I have built a house to his name, that he might dwell there for ever.2 I have built thee an exalted house, a place for thee to dwell in for ever."2 and I -- I have built a house of habitation for Thee, and a fixed place for Thy dwelling to the ages.'2 and I have built a house of habitation for You, and a fixed place for Your dwelling for all ages."

2 "I have built You a lofty house,
And a place for Your dwelling forever."

3 Then the king turned and blessed the entire congregation of Israel while they were standing. 3 The king turned his face, and blessed all the assembly of Yisra'el: and all the assembly of Yisra'el stood.

3 And the king turned his face, and blessed the whole congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood. 3 Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel stood.

3 While all the Israelites were standing there, King Solomon turned to them and blessed them. 3 Then the king turned around and pronounced a blessing over the whole Israelite assembly as they stood there.

3 Then the king turned around and blessed the entire assembly of Israel, while they were all standing.

3 Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel was standing.3 The king turned his face, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood. 3 And the King turned his face, and blessed all the Congregation of Israel (for all the Congregation of Israel stoode there)

Solomon Speaks to the People

3 Solomon turned toward the people standing there. Then he blessed them

3 Then the king turned around and blessed the whole community of Isra'el. The whole community of Isra'el stood

3 And the king turned his face and blessed the whole congregation of Israel; and the whole congregation of Israel stood.

Solomon's Speech

3 King Solomon turned around and blessed all the Israelites gathered in front of him.3 Then the king turned his face and blessed the whole congregation of Israel; and all the congregation of Israel stood.

3 All the people of Israel were standing there. The king turned to face them and asked God's blessing on them. 3 Then the king turned around[b] and blessed all the assembly of Israel, and all the assembly of Israel were standing. 3 And the king turned his face and blessed all the congregation of Israel. And all the congregation of Israel was standing.3 And the kynge turned his face, and blessed all the congregacion of Israel: for the whole cogregacion of Israel stode, 3 And the king turned his face, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood.3 Then, turning his face about, the king gave a blessing to all the men of Israel; and they were all on their feet together.3 And the king turned his face and blessed the whole congregation of Israel, & all the congregation of Israel stoode.3 And the king turned his face, and blessed all the congregation of Israel; and all the congregation of Israel stood.3 And the King turned his face and blessed the whole Congregation of Israel, (and all the Congregation of Israel stood) 3 And the king turned his face, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood by. 3 And the king turned his face, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood. 3 And Salomon turnede his face, and blesside al the multitude of Israel; for al the cumpeny stood ententif; and he seide,3 And the king turned his face, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood.3 And the king turned his face, and blessed the whole congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood.3 [xr] Then the king turned around and blessed the whole assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel was standing.

3 Then the king turned around to the entire community of Israel standing before him and gave this blessing: 3 Then the king turned around and prayed that good would come to all the people of Israel, while all the people of Israel stood.

3 Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel stood. 3 And the king turned about his face, and blessed all the convocation of Israel, - while, all the convocation of Israel, was standing;3 And the king turned his face, and blessed all the multitude of Israel for all the multitude stood attentive and he said:3 Then the king faced about, and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel stood.3 And the king turneth round his face, and blesseth the whole assembly of Israel, and the whole assembly of Israel is standing,3 And the king turns around his face, and blesses the whole assembly of Israel, and the whole assembly of Israel is standing,

3 The king then turned to face the congregation that had come together and blessed them:

3 Then the king (F1)faced about and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel was standing.4 He said:

4 He said, Blessed be the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, who spoke with his mouth to David my father, and has with his hands fulfilled it, saying,

4 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who hath with his hands fulfilled that which he spake with his mouth to my father David, saying, 4 And he said, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to David my father, saying, 4 Then he said, "Praise the Lord, the God of Israel. He has done what he promised to my father David. The Lord said, 4 He said, "The Lord God of Israel is worthy of praise because he has fulfilled what he promised my father David. 4 And he said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David and has fulfilled with His hands what He promised, saying,4 He said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David, and fulfilled it with His hands, saying,4 He said, Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father, and has with his hands fulfilled it, saying, 4 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spake with his mouth vnto Dauid my father, & hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,4 And he said, "Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David and has fulfilled it by His hands, saying,4 and said: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has fulfilled with His own hand what He spoke with His mouth to my father David, saying,4-6 and said:

Praise the Lord God of Israel! He brought his people out of Egypt long ago and later kept his promise to make my father David the king of Israel. The Lord also promised him that Jerusalem would be the city where his temple will be built, and now that promise has come true. 4 as he said, "Blessed be Adonai, the God of Isra'el, who spoke to my father David with his mouth and fulfilled his promise with his hand. He said,

4 And he said: Blessed be Jehovah the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hands fulfilled it, saying, 4 He said,

"Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who has done what he promised my father David. The Lord said,4 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who spoke with his own mouth to David my father, and with his word has fulfilled that which he had promised, saying, 4 (b)He said, "Praise the Lord God of Israel! He has kept the promise he made to my father David when he said to him, 4 And he said, "Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth with David my father, and with his hands he has fulfilled it, saying, 4 And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who has spoken with His mouth to my father David, and with His hands has fulfilled it, saying,4 & he sayde: Praysed be the LORDE God of Israel, which promysed by his mouth vnto my father Dauid, and with his hande hath fulfylled it, wha he sayde:

4 And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hands fulfilled it, saying, 4 And he said, Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who himself gave his word to my father David, and with his strong hand has made his word come true, saying,4 And he sayde: Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, which hath with his handes fulfilled it that he spake with his mouth to my father Dauid, saying:4 And he said: 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth unto David my father, and hath with His hands fulfilled it, saying:4 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who hath with his handes fulfilled that which he spake with his mouth to my father Dauid, saying, 4 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel: he has even fulfilled with his hands as he spoke with his mouth to my father David, saying, 4 And he said, Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hands fulfilled it, saying, 4 Blessid be the Lord God of Israel, for he fillide in werk that thing, that he spak to Dauid, my fadir, and seide,4 And he said, Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father, and has with his hands fulfilled it, saying,4 And he said, Blessed [be] the LORD God of Israel, who hath with his hands fulfilled [that] which he spoke with his mouth to my father David, saying,4 And he said: "Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who has fulfilled with His hands what He spoke with His mouth to my father David, saying, 4 "Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who has kept the promise he made to my father, David. For he told my father,

4 Solomon said, "Honor and thanks be to the Lord, the God of Israel. He spoke with His mouth to my father David. And He has kept His promises with His hands, saying, 4 And he said, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David, saying, 4 and he said, Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who spake with his mouth, unto David my father,-and, with his hand, hath fulfilled, saying:4 Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who hath accomplished in deed that which he spoke to David my father, saying:4 And he said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to David my father, saying,4 and he saith, `Blessed [is] Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath spoken with His mouth with David my father, and with His hands hath fulfilled [it], saying:4 and he says, "Blessed [is] YHWH, God of Israel, who has spoken with His mouth with my father David, and with His hands has fulfilled [it], saying,4-6 "Blessed be God, the God of Israel, who spoke personally to my father David. Now he has done what he promised when he said, ‘From the day I brought my people Israel up from Egypt, I haven't set apart one city among the tribes of Israel in which to build a temple to honor my Name, or chosen one person to be the leader. But now I have chosen both a city and a person: Jerusalem for honoring my Name and David to lead my people Israel.'4 He said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David and has fulfilled it with His hands, saying,

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel!
He spoke directly to my father David,
and he has fulfilled the promise
by his power.
He said,

5 “Since the day I brought my people Israel
out of the land of Egypt,(C1)
I have not chosen a city to build a temple in
among any of the tribes of Israel,
so that my name would be there,
and I have not chosen a man
to be ruler over my people Israel.
5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Mitzrayim, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Yisra'el to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over my people Yisra'el:

5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel: 5 ‘Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there, and I chose no man as prince over my people Israel; 5 ‘Since the time I brought my people out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel where a temple will be built for me. I did not choose a man to lead my people Israel. 5 He told David, ‘Since the day I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from all the tribes of Israel to build a temple in which to live. Nor did I choose a man as leader of my people Israel. 5 'Since the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I did not choose a city among all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house so that My Name (Presence) might be there, nor did I choose any man to be a leader over My people Israel;5 'Since the day that I brought My people from the land of Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, so that My name might be there, nor did I choose a man to be the leader over My people Israel;5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over my people Israel: 5 Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no citie of al the tribes of Israel to buylde an house, that my Name might be there, neyther chose I any man to be a ruler ouer my people Israel:5 'Since the day that I brought My people from the land of Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man for a ruler over My people Israel;5 ‘Since the day I brought My people out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house so that My Name would be there, nor have I chosen anyone to be ruler over My people Israel. 5 ‘Since the day I brought my people out of Egypt, I chose no city from any of the tribes of Isra'el to build a house, so that my name might be there; nor did I choose anyone to be the leader of my people Isra'el.

5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over my people Israel: 5 ‘I led Israel out of Egypt long ago. And in all that time, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel for a place to build a house for my name. I have not chosen a man to lead my people, the people of Israel.5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; 5 ‘From the time I brought my people out of Egypt until now, I did not choose any city in the land of Israel as the place to build a temple where I would be worshiped, and I did not choose anyone to lead my people Israel. 5 ‘From the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt I did not choose a city among all the tribes of Israel to build a house in order for my name to be there. Nor did I choose a man to be leader over my people Israel. 5 From the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city out of any of the tribes of Israel to build a house for My name to be there, and I have not chosen a man to be leader over My people Israel.5 Sece the tyme that I broughte my people out of the londe of Egipte, I haue chosen no cite in all ye trybes of Israel, to buylde an house for my name to be there, nether haue I chosen eny man to be prynce ouer my people of Israel. 5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be [a]prince over my people Israel: 5 From the day when I took my people out of the land of Egypt, no town in all the tribes of Israel has been marked out by me for the building of a house for the resting-place of my name; and I took no man to be a ruler over my people Israel;5 Since the day that I brought my people out of the lande of Egypt, I chose no citie among all the tribes of Israel to buylde an house in, that my name might be there, neither chose I any man to be a ruler ouer my people Israel:5 Since the day that I brought forth My people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that My name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over My people Israel;5 Since the day that I brought foorth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no citie among all the tribes of Israel to builde an house in, that my Name might be there, neither chose I any man to be a ruler ouer my people Israel: 5 From the day when I brought up my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city of all the tribes of Israel, to build a house that my name should be there; neither did I choose a man to be a leader over my people Israel. 5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over my people Israel: 5 Fro the dai in which Y ledde my puple out of the lond of Egipt, Y chees not a citee of alle the lynagis of Israel, that an hows schulde be bildid therynne to my name, nether Y chees ony other man, that he schulde be duyk on my puple Israel;5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither did I choose any man to be leader over my people Israel:5 Since the day that I brought forth my people from the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:5 "Since the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have chosen no city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house, that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man to be a ruler over My people Israel. 5 ‘From the day I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I have never chosen a city among any of the tribes of Israel as the place where a Temple should be built to honor my name. Nor have I chosen a king to lead my people Israel. 5 ‘Since the day that I brought My people from the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the families of Israel in which to build a house for My name. I did not choose any man to be a leader over My people Israel. 5 ‘Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any of the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, so that my name might be there, and I chose no one as ruler over my people Israel; 5 From the day I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I made choice of no city, out of all the tribes of Israel, for building a house, where my Name might be, - neither made I choice of any man, to be chief ruler over my people Israel:5 From the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel, for a house to be built in it to my name: neither chose I any other man, to be the ruler of my people Israel.5 'Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city in all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there, and I chose no man as prince over my people Israel;5 `From the day that I brought out My people from the land of Egypt, I have not fixed on a city out of any of the tribes of Israel to build a house for my name being there, and I have not fixed on a man to be leader over My people Israel;5 From the day that I brought out My people from the land of Egypt, I have not fixed on a city out of any of the tribes of Israel to build a house for my name being there, and I have not fixed on a man to be leader over My people Israel;5 'Since the day that I brought My people from the land of Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man for a leader over My people Israel;6 But I have chosen Jerusalem
so that my name will be there,(C1)
and I have chosen David
to be over my people Israel.”(C2)
6 but I have chosen Yerushalayim, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Yisra'el.
