By helping that wicked Ahab, you have made friends with someone who hates the Lord. Now the Lord God is angry at you! ² Yehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Y'hoshafat, "Should you help the wicked and befriend those who hate Adonai? Because of this, Adonai's anger is upon you.

² And Jehu the son of Hanani, the seer, went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate Jehovah? Therefore is wrath upon thee from Jehovah. ² The prophet Jehu, son of Hanani, went out to meet the king. Jehu said to him, "Why did you help those who are wicked? Why do you love those who hate the Lord? That's the reason the Lord is angry with you now.² And Jehu the son of Hanan the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, Should you go to help the ungodly, and love those who hate the LORD? Therefore the LORD is angry with you. ² A prophet, Jehu son of Hanani, went to meet the king and said to him, "Do you think it is right to help those who are wicked and to take the side of those who hate the Lord? What you have done has brought the Lord's anger on you. ² And Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him. And he said to King Jehoshaphat, "Should you be a help to the wicked and love those who hate Yahweh? On account of this, wrath has come against you from Yahweh. ² And Jehu the son of Hanani, the seer, went out before him and said to King Jehoshaphat, Do you love to help the bad one, and those who hate Jehovah, and by this bring wrath on you from the face of Jehovah?² And Iehu ye sonne of Hanani the Seer wete forth to mete him, & sayde vnto kynge Iosaphat: Shuldest thou so helpe the vngodly, and loue them that hate the LORDE? And for this cause is ye wrath vpo the from the LORDE: ² And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the wicked, and love them that hate Jehovah? for this thing wrath is upon thee from before Jehovah. ² And Jehu, the son of Hanani the seer, went to King Jehoshaphat and said to him, Is it right for you to go to the help of evil-doers, loving the haters of the Lord? because of this, the wrath of the Lord has come on you.² And Iehu the sonne of Hanani the sear went out to meete him, and sayd to king Iehosaphat: Wouldest thou helpe the vngodly, and loue them that hate the Lorde? Therfore is wrath come downe vpon thee from before the Lorde:² And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat: 'Shouldest thou help the wicked, and love them that hate the LORD? for this thing wrath is upon thee from before the LORD.² And Iehu the sonne of Hanani the seer, went out to meete him, and sayd to king Iehoshaphat, Shouldest thou helpe the vngodly, and loue them that hate the Lord ? Therefore is wrath vpon thee from before the Lord. ² And there went out to meet him Jeu the prophet the son of Anani, and said to him, King Josaphat, doest thou help a sinner, or act friendly towards one hated of the Lord? Therefore has wrath come upon thee from the Lord. ² And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the wicked, and love them that hate the LORD? for this thing wrath is upon thee from before the LORD. ² Whom the profete Hieu, the sone of Ananye, mette, and seide to hym, Thou yyuest help to a wickid man, and thou art ioyned bi frendschip to hem that haten the Lord; and therfor sotheli thou deseruedist the wraththe of the Lord;² And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Should you help the wicked, and love those that hate Yahweh? for this thing wrath is on you from before Yahweh.² And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldst thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore [is] wrath upon thee from before the LORD.² And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Therefore the wrath of the LORD is upon you. ² Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him. "Why should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord?" he asked the king. "Because of what you have done, the Lord is very angry with you. ² Jehu the son of Hanani the man who tells what will happen in the future went out to meet King Jehoshaphat, and said to him, "Should you help the sinful? Should you love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, the Lord is angry with you. ² Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord. ² And there came out to meet him, Jehu son of Hanani, the seer, who said unto King Jehoshaphat, Unto the lawless, was it right to give help? and, on them who hate Yahweh, to bestow thy love? For this cause, therefore, is there wrath against thee, from before Yahweh;² And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer met him, and said to him: Thou helpest the ungodly, and thou art joined in friendship with them that hate the Lord, and therefore thou didst deserve indeed the wrath of the Lord:² But Jehu the son of Hana'ni the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehosh'aphat, "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the LORD.² and go out unto his presence doth Jehu son of Hanani, the seer, and saith unto king Jehoshaphat, `To give help to the wicked, and to those hating Jehovah, dost thou love? and for this against thee [is] wrath from before Jehovah,² and Jehu son of Hanani the seer goes out to his presence and says to King Jehoshaphat, "Do you love to give help to the wicked and to those hating YHWH? And for this, wrath [is] against you from before YHWH,^2 (C1)Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, "^(C2)Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD and ^(F1)(C3)so bring wrath on yourself from the LORD?³ However, some good is found in you, for you have eradicated the Asherah poles from the land and have decided to seek God.”^(C1)

³ Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God. ³ Nevertheless, ^(f)some good is found in you, for ^(g)you destroyed the Asheroth out of the land, and have ^(h)set your heart to seek God." ³ But there is some good in you. You took the Asherah idols out of this country, and you have tried to obey God." ³ Nevertheless you have done some good things; you removed the Asherah poles from the land and you were determined to follow the Lord."³ "But ^(C1)there are some good things found in you, for ^(C2)you have removed the Asherim (idols) from the land and you have ^(C3)set your heart to seek God with all your soul's desire."

³ Nevertheless there are good things found in thee; for thou hast put away the Asherahs out of the land, and hast directed thy heart to seek God. ³ Fortunately, you did some good things in your life. You did remove the Asherah poles from this country, and you did decide to ask God for his advice."³ But I believe good reports have been heard about you, in that you have not shed innocent blood in the land and have prepared your heart to pray before the LORD in truth. ³ But even so, there is some good in you. You have removed all the symbols of the goddess Asherah which people worshiped, and you have tried to follow God's will." ³ Nevertheless some good things have been found in regard to you, for you burned the Asherahs out of the land and set your heart to seek God."³ But good things have been found with you, for you have burned the Asherahs out of the land, and have fixed your heart to seek God.³ neuertheles there is some good founde in the, that thou hast put the groues out of the londe, and hast prepared thine hert to seke God. ³ Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast put away the Asheroth out of the land, and hast set thy heart to seek God.³ But still there is some good in you, for you have put away the wood pillars out of the land, and have given your heart to the worship of God.³ Neuerthelesse, there are some good actes founde in thee, in that thou hast hewen downe the groues out of the lande, and hast prepared thyne heart to seke God.³ Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast put away the Asheroth out of the land, and hast set thy heart to seek God.'³ Neuerthelesse, there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groues out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seeke God. ³ Nevertheless some good things have been found in thee, forasmuch as thou didst remove the groves from the land of Juda, and didst direct thine heart to seek after the Lord. ³ Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast put away the Asheroth out of the land, and hast set thine heart to seek God. ³ but good werkis ben foundyn in thee, for thou didist awey wodis fro the lond of Juda, and thou hast maad redi thin herte, for to seke the Lord God of thi fadris.³ Nevertheless there are good things found in you, in that you have put away the Asheroth out of the land, and have set your heart to seek God.³ Nevertheless, there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thy heart to seek God.³ Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God." ³ Even so, there is some good in you, for you have removed the Asherah poles throughout the land, and you have committed yourself to seeking God." ³ But there is some good in you. For you have destroyed from the land the false goddess Asherah. And you have set your heart to follow God." ³ Nevertheless, some good is found in you, for you destroyed the sacred poles^[a] out of the land, and have set your heart to seek God."³ howbeit, good things, are found with thee,-for that thou hast consumed the Sacred Stems out of the land, and hast fixed thy heart to seek God.³ But good works are found in thee, because thou hast taken away the groves out of the land of Juda, and hast prepared thy heart to seek the Lord the God of thy fathers.³ Nevertheless some good is found in you, for you destroyed the Ashe'rahs out of the land, and have set your heart to seek God."³ but good things have been found with thee, for thou hast put away the shrines out of the land, and hast prepared thy heart to seek God.'³ but good things have been found with you, for you have put away the Asheroth out of the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God."³ "But ^(F1)(C1)there is some good in you, for ^(C2)you have removed the ^(F2)Asheroth from the land and you ^(C3)have set your heart to seek God."

Jehoshaphat’s Reforms

⁴ Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem, and once again he went out among the people from Beer-sheba to the hill country of Ephraim and brought them back to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.^{(C1) 4} Yehoshafat lived at Yerushalayim: and he went out again among the people from Be'er-Sheva to the hill-country of Efrayim, and brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.

⁴ And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again through the people from Beersheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back unto the Lord God of their fathers.

⁴ Jehoshaphat lived at Jerusalem. And he went out again among the people, from Beersheba to ⁽ⁱ⁾the hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back to the Lord, the God of their fathers.

Jehoshaphat Chooses Judges

⁴ Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem. He went out again to be with the people, from Beersheba to the mountains of Ephraim, and he turned them back to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

Jehoshaphat Appoints Judges

⁴ Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem. He went out among the people from Beer Sheba to the hill country of Ephraim and encouraged them to follow the Lord God of their ancestors.

⁴ So Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem, and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim and ^(C1)brought them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.

Jehoshaphat’s Reforms

Be careful when you make your decisions in court, because these are the Lord's people, and he will know what you decide. ⁶ and instructed the judges, "Think about what you are doing: you are not dispensing justice by merely human standards but on behalf of Adonai; he is with you when you deliver a verdict.

⁶ And he said to the judges, Take heed what ye do; for ye judge not for man, but for Jehovah, who will be with you in the matter of judgment. ⁶ He told the judges, "Be careful in what you are doing, because you are not judging for people, but for the Lord. He will be with you when you make decisions.⁶ And he said to the judges, Take heed what you do; for you judge not for man, but for the LORD our God. ⁶ and instructed them: "Be careful in pronouncing judgment; you are not acting on human authority, but on the authority of the Lord, and he is with you when you pass sentence. ⁶ And he said to the judges, "Consider what you are doing, for you are not judging for a man but for Yahweh. Now he is with you in speaking justice. ⁶ and said to the judges, Watch what you are doing, for you shall not judge for man, but for Jehovah, and He is with you in the matter of judgment;⁶ And sayde vnto the Iudges: Take hede what ye do: for ye execute not the iudgment of man, but of the LORDE, and he is with you in iudgmet: ⁶ and said to the judges, Consider what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for Jehovah; and he is with you ^[a]in the judgment. ⁶ And said to the judges, Take care what you do, for you are judging not for man but for the Lord, and he is with you in the decisions you give.⁶ And sayde to the iudges, Take heede what ye do: for ye execute not the iudgementes of man, but of God, whiche is with you in the iudgement.⁶ and said to the judges: 'Consider what ye do; for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD; and [He is] with you in giving judgment.⁶ And said to the Iudges, Take heed what ye doe: for yee iudge not for man, but for the Lord, who is with you in the iudgement. ⁶ And he said to the judges, Take good heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the Lord, and with you are matters of judgment. ⁶ and said to the judges, Consider what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD; and [he is] with you in the judgment. ⁶ And he comaundide to the iugis, and seide, Se ye, what ye doen; for ye vsen not the doom of man, but of the Lord; and what euere thing ye demen, schal turne `in to you;<sup>6</sup> and said to the judges, Consider what you do: for you do not judge for man, but for Yahweh; and [he is] with you in the judgment.<sup>6</sup> And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who [is] with you in the judgment.<sup>6</sup> and said to the judges, "Take heed to what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment. <sup>6</sup> and he said to them, "Always think carefully before pronouncing judgment. Remember that you do not judge to please people but to please the Lord. He will be with you when you render the verdict in each case. <sup>6</sup> And he said to the judges, "Think about what you do. For you do not judge for man, but for the Lord. He is with you when you judge between right and wrong. <sup>6</sup> and said to the judges, "Consider what you are doing, for you judge not on behalf of human beings but on the Lord's behalf; he is with you in giving judgment. <sup>6</sup> and said unto the judges, See what, ye, are doing, inasmuch as, not for man, must ye judge, but for Yahweh, - who will be with you, in the word of justice.<sup>6</sup> And charging the judges, he said: Take heed what you do: for you exercise not the judgment of man, but of the Lord: and whatsoever you judge, it shall redound to you.<sup>6</sup> and said to the judges, "Consider what you do, for you judge not for man but for the LORD; he is with you in giving judgment.<sup>6</sup> and saith unto the judges, `See what ye are doing -- for not for man do ye judge, but for Jehovah, who [is] with you in the matter of judgment;⁶ and says to the ones judging, "See what you are doing—for you do not judge for man, but for YHWH, who [is] with you in the matter of judgment;⁶ He said to the judges, "Consider what you are doing, for ^(C1)you do not judge for man but for the LORD who is with you ^(F1)when you render judgment.⁷ And now, may the terror of the Lord be on you. Watch what you do, for there is no injustice or partiality or taking bribes with the Lord our God.”^(C1)
