False Doctrine and Misuse of the Law
3 As I urged you when I went to Macedonia,(C1) remain in Ephesus(C2) so that you may instruct certain people(C3) not to teach false doctrine 3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
Warning Against False Teachers
3 (g)As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not (h)to teach any different doctrine,

Warning Against False Teaching
3 I asked you to stay longer in Ephesus when I went into Macedonia so you could command some people there to stop teaching false things.
3 As I urged you (F1)upon my departure for (C1)Macedonia, (F2)remain on at (C2)Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to (C3)teach strange doctrines,
3 As I exhorted you when going to (C1)Macedonia, (F1)remain on at (C2)Ephesus so that you may command certain ones not to (C3)teach a different doctrine,
Warning against False Teaching

3 When I was leaving for Macedonia, I asked you to stay on in Ephesus and warn certain people there to stop spreading their false teachings.
3 As I counseled you when I was leaving for Macedonia, stay on in Ephesus, so that you may order certain people who are teaching a different doctrine to stop.
3 Even as I begged thee to remain in Ephesus, [when I was] going to Macedonia, that thou mightest enjoin some not to teach other doctrines,
Warnings Against False Teachings
3 When I went to Macedonia, I asked you to stay in Ephesus. Some people there are teaching things that are not true, and I want you to tell them to stop.3 As I besought thee to abide still in Ephesus, when I departed into Macedonia, so doe, that thou mayest warne some, that they teach none other doctrine,3 When I went to Mac-e-do''ni-a, I besought you to remain at Eph''e-sus, so that you might charge certain ones not to teach diverse doctrines,
Warnings against False Teaching
3 I want you to stay in Ephesus, just as I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia. Some people there are teaching false doctrines, and you must order them to stop.
Instructions for Timothy in Ephesus
3 Just as I urged you when I[a] traveled to Macedonia, remain in Ephesus, so that you may instruct certain people not to teach other doctrine, 3 Even as I called on you to remain in Ephesus, (I going to Macedonia), that you might charge some not to teach other doctrines,
3 As I urged you when I was on my way to (C1)Macedonia, stay on at (C2)Ephesus so that you may instruct certain individuals not to (C3)teach any different doctrines,
3 As I exhorted thee to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine, 3 It was my desire, when I went on into Macedonia, that you might make a stop at Ephesus, to give orders to certain men not to put forward a different teaching,3 As I exhorted you to stay at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that you might charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine, 3 When I was on my way to Macedonia, I urged you to stay in Ephesus so that you could instruct certain people to stop teaching false doctrine[xr] 3 I requested of thee, when I would go into Makedunia, to remain at Ephesos, and instruct certain men that they teach not various doctrines,3 When I was going into Macedonia, I requested thee to remain at Ephesus, and to charge certain persons not to teach different doctrines;3 As I besought thee to abyde styll in Ephesus, when I departed into Macedonia [so do] that thou comaunde some that they teache no other doctrine:3 As I exhorted thee to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine, 3 As I exhorted you to stay at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that you might charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine, 3 As I exhorted thee when I was going into Macedonia, abide at Ephesus; that thou mayest charge some to teach no other doctrine, Neither to give heed to fables and endless genealogies,3 When I was on my journey to Macedonia I begged you to remain on in Ephesus that you might remonstrate with certain persons because of their erroneous teaching3 As Y preyede thee, that thou schuldist dwelle at Effesi, whanne Y wente into Macedonye, that thou schuldist denounce to summe men, that thei schulden not teche othere weie,3 As I exhorted you to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that you might charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine,3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
Timothy's Task in Ephesus
3 As I urged you when I was leaving for Macedonia, stay on in Ephesus to instruct certain people not to spread false teachings, 3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia--remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
Warnings against False Teachings
3 When I left for Macedonia, I urged you to stay there in Ephesus and stop those whose teaching is contrary to the truth.
Watch for False Teachers
3 When I left for the country of Macedonia, I asked you to stay in the city of Ephesus. I wanted you to stay there so you could tell those who are teaching what is not true to stop.
Warning against False Teachers
3 I urge you, as I did when I was on my way to Macedonia, to remain in Ephesus so that you may instruct certain people not to teach any different doctrine, 3 Even as I exhorted thee to remain in Ephesus, when I was journeying into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some - 3 As I desired thee to remain at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some not to teach otherwise:3 As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine,3 As I besought the to abyde styll in Ephesus when I departed into Macedonia even so do that thou comaunde some that they teache no nother wise:3 according as I did exhort thee to remain in Ephesus -- I going on to Macedonia -- that thou mightest charge certain not to teach any other thing,3 According as I exhorted you to remain in Ephesus—I going on to Macedonia—that you might charge certain [ones] not to teach any other thing,3 As I besoughte ye to abyde still at Ephesus ( whan I departed in to Macedonia) eue so do, that thou commaunde some, that they teach none other wyse,3 At my departure from Macedonia, I advised you to stay at Ephesus in order to charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, 3-4 On my way to the province of Macedonia, I advised you to stay in Ephesus. Well, I haven't changed my mind. Stay right there on top of things so that the teaching stays on track. Apparently some people have been introducing fantasy stories and fanciful family trees that digress into silliness instead of pulling the people back into the center, deepening faith and obedience.
3 Don't forget what I told you when I was going to Macedonia. I told you to stay in Ephesus to battle the counterfeit cowboys who were teaching something other than faith in Jesus. Timothy Is Told How to Handle Counterfeit Cowboys
4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 4 nor (i)to devote themselves to myths and endless (j)genealogies, which promote (k)speculations rather than the stewardship[a] from God that is by faith.4 nor to (F1)pay attention to (C1)myths and endless (C2)genealogies, which give rise to useless (C3)speculation rather than (C4)advance (F2)the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now. 4 Tell them not to spend their time on stories that are not true and on long lists of names in family histories. These things only bring arguments; they do not help God's work, which is done in faith. 4 nor to (F1)pay attention to (C1)myths and endless (C2)genealogies, which give rise to mere (C3)speculation rather than (C4)furthering (F2)the administration of God which is by faith.4 nor to (F1)pay attention to (C1)myths and endless (C2)genealogies, which give rise to mere (C3)speculation rather than furthering (C4)the stewardship from God which is by faith.4 or devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculation rather than the stewardship of God’s work, which is by faith. 4 You needed to warn them to stop wasting their time on senseless stories and endless lists of ancestors. Such things only cause arguments. They don't help anyone to do God's work that can only be done by faith. 4 Have them stop devoting their attention to myths and never-ending genealogies; these divert people to speculating instead of doing God's work, which requires trust.
4 nor to turn their minds to fables and interminable genealogies, which bring questionings rather than [further] God's dispensation, which [is] in faith. 4 Tell them not to give their time to meaningless stories and to long lists of names to prove their family histories. Such things only cause arguments. They don't help God's work, which is done only by faith.4 Neither that they giue heede to fables and genealogies which are endles, which breede questions rather then godly edifying which is by fayth.4 And not to give heed to fables and stories of endless genealogies, which cause dispute, rather than build up the faith of God. 4 Tell them to give up those legends and those long lists of ancestors, which only produce arguments; they do not serve God's plan, which is known by faith. 4 and not to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause useless speculations rather than God's plan that is by faith. 4 nor to give heed to fables and to endless genealogies, which occasion doubts, rather than a stewardship of God in faith,4 nor to pay attention to (C1)legends (fables, myths) and endless (C2)genealogies, which give rise to useless (C3)speculation and meaningless arguments rather than (C4)advancing God's program of instruction which is grounded in faith and requires surrendering the entire self to God in absolute trust and confidence. 4 neither to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questionings, rather than a [a]dispensation of God which is in faith; so do I now. 4 Or to give attention to stories and long lists of generations, from which come questionings and doubts, in place of God's ordered way of life which is in faith;4 neither to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause disputes, rather than God's stewardship, which is in faith -- 4 and occupying themselves with myths and endless genealogies. These things promote controversies rather than God's ongoing purpose, which involves faith.[xr] 4 4 nor throw themselves (away) upon stories and tales of generations which have no end, [fn] (but) which rather subserve contentions, and not edification in the faith of Aloha.
5 Now the end of the commandement is charity, out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith vnfained.
5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 5 The aim of our charge is love (l)that issues from a pure heart and (m)a good conscience and (n)a sincere faith.5 But the goal of our (F1)(C1)instruction is love (C2)from a pure heart, from a (C3)good conscience, and from a sincere (C4)faith. 5 The purpose of this command is for people to have love, a love that comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a true faith. 5 But the goal of our (F1)(C1)instruction is love (C2)from a pure heart and a (C3)good conscience and a sincere (C4)faith.5 But the goal of our (C1)command is love (C2)from a pure heart and a (C3)good conscience and an unhypocritical (C4)faith.
5 The goal of our instruction is the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith.
5 You must teach people to have genuine love, as well as a good conscience and true faith. 5 The purpose of this order is to promote love from a clean heart, from a good conscience and from sincere trust.
5 But the end of what is enjoined is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith; 5 My purpose in telling you to do this is to promote love—the kind of love shown by those whose thoughts are pure, who do what they know is right, and whose faith in God is real.
5 For the end of the commaundement is loue out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith vnfained.
5 Now the fulfillment of the commandment is love out of a pure heart and of a good conscience and of a true faith: 5 The purpose of this order is to arouse the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a genuine faith. 5 But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a faith without hypocrisy,
5 but the end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience, and faith not pretended,5 But the goal of our (C1)instruction is love which springs (C2)from a pure heart and a (C3)good conscience and a sincere (C4)faith. 5 But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned:
5 But the effect of the order is love coming from a clean heart, and a knowledge of what is right, and true faith:
5 But the end of the charge is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith;
5 The goal of this instruction is love that flows from a pure heart, from a clear conscience, and from a sincere faith.[xr]
5 5 Now the end of the command is love, which is from a pure heart, and from a good conscience, and from true faith. 5 But the ende of the commaundement, is loue out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, & of fayth vnfaigned. 5 But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned: 5 But the end of the charge is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith; 5 Whereas the end of the commandment is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience, and faith unfeigned, 5 But the end sought to be secured by exhortation is the love which springs from a pure heart, a clear conscience and a sincere faith. 5 For the ende of comaundement is charite of clene herte, and good conscience, and of feith not feyned. 5 But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned: 5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and [of] a good conscience, and [of] faith unfeigned: 5 But the aim of our instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. 5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, 5 The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. 5 We want to see our teaching help you have a true love that comes from a pure heart. Such love comes from a heart that says we are not guilty and from a faith that does not pretend. 5 But the aim of such instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith. 5 Now, the end of the charge, is love - out of a pure heart, and a good conscience, and faith unfeigned, - 5 Now the end of the commandment is charity from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and an unfeigned faith. 5 whereas the aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith. 5 for ye ende of the comaundemet is love that cometh of a pure herte and of a good conscience and of fayth vnfayned: 5 And the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned, 5 And the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of unhypocritical faith, 5 For ye chefe summe of the commaundement is loue of a pure hert, and of a good coscience, and of faith vnfayned. 5 such a charge will produce that charity, which arises from purity, from a good conscience, and a sincere belief: 5-7 The whole point of what we're urging is simply love—love uncontaminated by self-interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God. Those who fail to keep to this point soon wander off into cul-de-sacs of gossip. They set themselves up as experts on religious issues, but haven't the remotest idea of what they're holding forth with such imposing eloquence.5 The goal of the new code of Christ is to love. The only way to do this is with a pure heart, a clean conscience, and an authentic faith. 6 Some have departed from these and turned aside to fruitless discussion. 6 From which some hauing swarued, haue turned aside vnto vaine iangling, 6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 6 Certain persons, by (o)swerving from these, have wandered away into (p)vain discussion,6 Some people have strayed from these things and have turned aside to (C1)fruitless discussion, 6 Some people have missed these things and turned to useless talk. 6 For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to (C1)fruitless discussion,6 For some, straying from these things, have turned aside to (C1)fruitless discussion,6 Some have strayed from these ways and turned aside to empty talk. 6 There are some who have given up these for nothing but empty talk. 6 Some, by aiming amiss, have wandered off into fruitless discussion. 6 which [things] some having missed, have turned aside to vain discourse,
