Solomon’s Dedication of the Temple

¹ At that time Solomon assembled the elders^(C1) of Israel,^(C2) all the tribal heads^(C3) and the ancestral leaders of the Israelites before him at Jerusalem in order to bring the ark of the Lord’s covenant from the city of David,^(C4) that is Zion.^(C5)

¹ Then Shlomo assembled the Zakenim of Yisra'el, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers' [houses] of the children of Yisra'el, to king Shlomo in Yerushalayim, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Tziyon.

¹ Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion.

The Ark Brought into the Temple

^1 (a)Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, ^(b)the leaders of the fathers' houses of the people of Israel, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, ^(c)to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of ^(d)the city of David, which is Zion.

The Ark Is Brought into the Temple

¹ King Solomon called for the elders of Israel, the heads of the tribes, and the leaders of the families to come to him in Jerusalem. He wanted them to bring the Ark of the Agreement with the Lord from the older part of the city.

Solomon Moves the Ark into the Temple

¹ Then Solomon convened in Jerusalem Israel's elders, all the leaders of the Israelite tribes and families, so they could witness the transferal of the ark of the Lord's covenant from the City of David (that is, Zion).

¹ Then King Salomon assembled the Elders of Israel, euen all the heads of the tribes, the chiefe fathers of the children of Israel vnto him in Ierusalem, for to bring vp the Arke of the couenant of the Lorde from the citie of Dauid, which is Zion.

The Ark Brought into the House of Yahweh

^1 (C1)Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all ^(C2)the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers' households of the sons of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, ^(C3)to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from ^(C4)the city of David, which is Zion.^1-2 The sacred chest had been kept on Mount Zion, also known as the city of David. But Solomon decided to have the chest moved to the temple while everyone was in Jerusalem, celebrating the Festival of Shelters during Ethanim,^[a] the seventh month of the year.

Solomon called together the important leaders of Israel.

¹ Then Shlomo assembled all the leaders of Isra'el, all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the paternal clans of the people of Isra'el, to King Shlomo in Yerushalayim, to bring the ark for the covenant of Adonai out of the City of David, also known as Tziyon.

¹ Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion.

The Box of the Agreement in the Temple

¹ Then King Solomon told all the elders of Israel, the heads of the tribes, and the leaders of the families of Israel to come together in Jerusalem. Solomon wanted them to join in moving the Box of the Lord's Agreement from the City of David up to the Temple.

¹ THEN Solomon assembled all the tribes of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the chiefs of the fathers, to him in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

The Covenant Box Is Brought to the Temple^(a)

^1 (b)Then King Solomon summoned all the leaders of the tribes and clans of Israel to come to him in Jerusalem in order to take the Lord's Covenant Box from Zion, David's City, to the Temple.

The Dedication of the Temple

¹ At that time, Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the leaders of the families^[a] of the Israelites^[b] before King Solomon, in order to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the city of David, that is, Zion.

¹ Then Solomon gathered the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the sons of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion.

¹ Then gathered kynge Salomon all ye Elders in Israel together, all the rulers of the trybes and prynces of the fathers amonge the children of Israel, vnto Ierusalem, to brynge vp the Arke of the couenaunt of the LORDE, out of the cite of Dauid, that is Sion.

¹ Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers' houses of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the city of David, which is Zion.

¹ Then Solomon sent for all the responsible men of Israel, and all the chiefs of the tribes, and the heads of families of the children of Israel, to come to him in Jerusalem to take the ark of the Lord's agreement up out of the town of David, which is Zion.

¹ Then Solomon gathered the elders of Israel, & al the heads of the tribes, and them that were captaynes amog the fathers of the children of Israel, vnto him in Hierusalem, that they might bring vp the arke of the appoyntment of the Lorde out of the citie of Dauid, which is Sion.

¹ Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers' houses of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

¹ Then Solomon assembled the Elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chiefe of the fathers of the children of Israel, vnto king Solomon in Ierusalem, that they might bring vp the Arke of the Couenant of the Lord, out of the citie of Dauid, which is Zion.

¹ And it came to pass when Solomon had finished building the house of the Lord and his own house after twenty years, then king Solomon assembled all the elders of Israel in Sion, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, this is Sion,

¹ Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ [houses] of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

The Ark Enters the Temple

(2 Chronicles 5:1-10)

¹ At that time Solomon assembled before him in Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the tribal heads and family leaders of the Israelites—to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from Zion, the City of David.

¹ [xr] Now Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the City of David, which is Zion.

The Ark Brought to the Temple

¹ Solomon then summoned to Jerusalem the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes—the leaders of the ancestral families of the Israelites. They were to bring the Ark of the Lord's Covenant to the Temple from its location in the City of David, also known as Zion.

The Special Box Brought into the House of God

¹ Then King Solomon gathered together the leaders of Israel in front of him in Jerusalem. He gathered together all the heads of the families and the leaders of the fathers' houses of the sons of Israel. They gathered to bring up the Lord's special box of the agreement from Zion the city of David.

Dedication of the Temple

¹ Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the ancestral houses of the Israelites, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion.

¹ Then, did Solomon call together the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, chiefs of the fathers of the sons of Israel, unto King Solomon in Jerusalem, - that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, out of the city of David, the same is Zion.

¹ Then all the ancients of Israel, with the princes of the tribes, and the heads of the families of the children of Israel, were assembled to king Solomon, in Jerusalem: that they might carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord, out of the city of David, that is, out of Sion.

¹ Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers' houses of the people of Israel, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

¹ Then Solomon assembles the elderly of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, princes of the fathers of the sons of Israel, to King Solomon, to Jerusalem, to bring up the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH from the City of David—it [is] Zion;^1-2 Bringing all this to a climax, King Solomon called in the leaders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes and the family patriarchs, to bring up the Chest of the Covenant of God from Zion, the City of David. And they came, all Israel before King Solomon in the month of Ethanim, the seventh month, for the great autumn festival.

The Ark Brought into the Temple

^1 (C1)Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all ^(C2)the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers' households of the sons of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, ^(C3)to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from ^(C4)the city of David, which is Zion.² So all the men of Israel were assembled in the presence of King Solomon in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month,^(F1) at the festival.^(C1)

² And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. ² And all the men of Israel assembled to King Solomon at ^(e)the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. ² So all the Israelites came together with King Solomon during the festival in the month of Ethanim, the seventh month. ² All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon during the festival in the month Ethanim (the seventh month). ² All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon at ^(C1)the feast in the month of Ethanim (September-October), that is, the seventh month.² So all the men of Israel assembled themselves before King Solomon at ^(C1)the feast, in the month Ethanim, that is, the seventh month.² And all the men of Israel assembled vnto King Salomon at the feast in the moneth of Ethanim, which is the seuenth moneth.² And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at ^(C1)the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. ² All the men of Isra'el assembled before King Shlomo at the festival in the month of Etanim, the seventh month.

² And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, that is, the seventh month. ² So during the special festival^[a] in the month of Ethanim, the seventh month of the year, all the men of Israel came to the meeting with King Solomon.² And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at the feast in the month of the harvest, which is the seventh month. ^2 (c)They all assembled during the Festival of Shelters in the seventh month, in the month of Ethanim. ² All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon at the festival in the month of Ethnaim, that is, the seventh month. ² And all the men of Israel were gathered to King Solomon, in the month of Ethanim, at the feast, which is the seventh month.² And there resorted vnto kynge Salomon all the men in Israel, at the feast in the moneth Ethanim, that is ye seuenth moneth. ² And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. ² And all the men of Israel came together to King Solomon at the feast, in the month Ethanim, the seventh month.² And all the men of Israel assembled vnto king Solomon to the feast that falleth in the moneth Ethanim, which is the seuenth moneth.² And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.² And all the men of Israel assembled themselues vnto king Solomon, at the feast, in the moneth Ethanim, which is the seuenth moneth. ² in the month of Athanin. ² And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. ² And all the men of Israel came together to King Solomon at the feast in the seventh month, the month of Ethanim.² And al Israel cam to gidere in the moneth Bethanym, in the solempne dai; thilke is the seuenthe moneth.² and all the men of Israel are assembled unto king Solomon, in the month of Ethanim, in the festival -- [is] the seventh month.² And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.² And all the men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which [is] the seventh month.² All the men of Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon at the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. ² Therefore all the men of Israel assembled with King Solomon at the feast in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month. ² So all the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon at the annual Festival of Shelters, which is held in early autumn in the month of Ethanim.^{[a] 2} All the men of Israel gathered to King Solomon at the special supper in the seventh month, Ethanim. ² All the people of Israel assembled to King Solomon at the festival in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. ² So all the men of Israel came together unto King Solomon, in the month of steady flowings, at the festival, - the same is the seventh month.² And all Israel assembled themselves to king Solomon, on the festival day, in the month of Ethanim, the same is the seventh month.² And all the men of Israel assembled to King Solomon at the feast in the month Eth'anim, which is the seventh month.² and all the men of Israel are assembled to King Solomon, in the month of Ethanim, in the festival (the seventh month).² All the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at ^(C1)the feast, in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

³ All the elders^(C1) of Israel came, and the priests^(C2) picked up the ark.^{(C3) 3} All the Zakenim of Yisra'el came, and the Kohanim took up the ark.

³ And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. ³ And all the elders of Israel came, and ^(f)the priests took up the ark.

³ When all the elders of Israel arrived, the priests lifted up the Ark. ³ When all Israel's elders had arrived, the priests lifted the ark. ³ All the elders of Israel came, and ^(C1)the priests carried the ark.³ Then all the elders of Israel came, and ^(C1)the priests took up the ark.³ And all the Elders of Israel came and the Priests tooke the Arke.³ Then all the elders of Israel came, and ^(C1)the priests carried the ark.^3-4 Then the priests and the Levites carried to the temple the sacred chest, the sacred tent, and the objects used for worship. ³ All the leaders of Isra'el came. The cohanim took the ark

³ And all the elders of Israel came; and the priests took up the ark.^3-4 When all the elders of Israel arrived, the priests and Levites carried the Holy Box of the Lord up to the Temple. They also carried the Meeting Tent and all the holy things that were in it up to the Temple. ³ And all the tribes of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD. ³ When all the leaders had gathered, the priests lifted the Covenant Box ³ All the elders of Israel came, and the priests carried the ark. ³ And all the elders of Israel came in, and the priests lifted up the ark,³ And whan all ye Elders of Israel came, the prestes toke the Arke of the LORDE, ³ And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. ³ And all the responsible men of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.³ And al the elders of Israel were come, and the priestes tooke vp the arke.³ And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.³ And all the Elders of Israel came, and the Priests tooke vp the Arke. ³ And the priests took up the ark, ³ And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. ³ When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the priests took up the ark,³ And alle the elde men of Israel camen; and the preestis token the arke,³ And all the elders of Israel come in, and the priests lift up the ark,³ And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.³ And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.³ All the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. ³ So all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.

³ When all the elders of Israel arrived, the priests picked up the Ark. ³ All the leaders of Israel came, and the religious leaders took up the Lord's special box of the agreement. ³ And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests carried the ark. ³ And all the elders of Israel came in, - and the priests took up the ark;³ And all the ancients of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark,³ And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.³ And all [the] elderly of Israel come in, and the priests lift up the Ark,^3-5 With all Israel's leaders present, the priests took up the Chest of God and carried up the Chest and the Tent of Meeting and all the holy vessels that went with the Tent. King Solomon and the entire congregation of Israel were there at the Chest worshiping and sacrificing huge numbers of sheep and cattle—so many that no one could keep track.³ Then all the elders of Israel came, and ^(C1)the priests took up the ark.⁴ The priests and the Levites brought the ark of the Lord, the tent of meeting,^(C1) and the holy utensils that were in the tent.^{(C2) 4} They brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; even these did the Kohanim and the Levites bring up.

⁴ And they brought up the ark of the Lord, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up. ⁴ And they brought up the ark of the Lord, ^(g)the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up. ⁴ They carried the Ark of the Lord, the Meeting Tent, and the holy utensils; the priests and the Levites brought them up. ⁴ The priests and Levites carried the ark of the Lord, the tent of meeting, and all the holy items in the tent. ⁴ They brought up the ark of the LORD and the ^(C1)Tent of Meeting and all the holy utensils that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up.⁴ And they brought up the ark of the LORD, ^(C1)the tent of meeting, and all the holy utensils which were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up.⁴ They bare the Arke of the Lorde, and they bare the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tabernacle: those did the Priestes and Leuites bring vp.⁴ And they brought up the ark of Yahweh and ^(C1)the tent of meeting and all the holy utensils, which were in the tent, and the priests and the Levites brought them up. ⁴ and brought up the ark of Adonai, the tent of meeting and all the holy utensils that were in the tent; these are what the cohanim and L'vi'im brought up.

⁴ And they brought up the ark of Jehovah, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent: the priests and the Levites brought them up.⁴ And they brought it up to the temple of the LORD, and brought the tabernacle of the congregation and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, and the priests and the Levites of Israel went up with them. ⁴ and carried it to the Temple. The Levites and the priests also moved the Tent of the Lord's presence and all its equipment to the Temple. ⁴ So they brought up the ark of Yahweh and the tent of assembly^[c] and all of the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up. ⁴ and brought up the ark of Jehovah, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those the priests and the Levites brought.⁴ and broughte it vp, and the Tabernacle of witnesse, and all the ornamentes of the Sanctuary that were in the Tabernacle. This dyd the prestes and the Leuites. ⁴ And they brought up the ark of Jehovah, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; even these did the priests and the Levites bring up. ⁴ They took up the ark of the Lord, and the Tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels which were in the Tent; all these the priests and the Levites took up.⁴ And they bare the arke of the Lorde, the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle: those dyd the priestes and the leuites beare.⁴ And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; even these did the priests and the Levites bring up.⁴ And they brought vp the Arke of the Lord, and the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tabernacle, euen those did the Priests & the Leuites bring vp. ⁴ and the tabernacle of testimony, and the holy furniture that was in the tabernacle of testimony. ⁴ And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; even these did the priests and the Levites bring up. ⁴ and they brought up the ark of the LORD and the Tent of Meeting with all its sacred furnishings. So the priests and Levites carried them up.⁴ and baren the arke of the Lord, and the tabernacle of boond of pees, and alle vessels of the seyntuarye, that weren in the tabernacle; and the preestis and dekenes baren tho.⁴ and bring up the ark of Jehovah, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that [are] in the tent, yea, the priests and the Levites bring them up.⁴ And they brought up the ark of Yahweh, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; even these the priests and the Levites brought up.⁴ And they brought the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that [were] in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring.⁴ They brought up the ark of Yahweh, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent; even these did the priests and the Levites bring up. ⁴ Then they brought up the ark of the LORD, the tabernacle of meeting, and all the holy furnishings that were in the tabernacle. The priests and the Levites brought them up. ⁴ The priests and Levites brought up the Ark of the Lord along with the special tent^[b] and all the sacred items that had been in it. ⁴ They brought up the Lord's special box of the agreement, the meeting tent, and all the holy objects which were in the tent. The religious leaders and the Levites brought them up. ⁴ So they brought up the ark of the Lord, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up. ⁴ and they brought up the ark of Yahweh, and the Tent of Meeting, and all the hallowed vessels that were in the tent, - yea, the priests and the Levites, did bring them up.⁴ And carried the ark of the Lord, and the tabernacle of the covenant, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, that were in the tabernacle: and the priests and the Levites carried them.⁴ And they brought up the ark of the LORD, the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the tent; the priests and the Levites brought them up.⁴ and bring up the Ark of YHWH, and the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that [are] in the tent, indeed, the priests and the Levites bring them up.⁴ They brought up the ark of the LORD and ^(C1)the tent of meeting and all the holy utensils, which were in the tent, and the priests and the Levites brought them up.⁵ King Solomon and the entire congregation of Israel, who had gathered around him and were with him in front of the ark, were sacrificing sheep, goats, and cattle that could not be counted or numbered, because there were so many.^{(C1) 5} King Shlomo and all the congregation of Yisra'el, who were assembled to him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be counted nor numbered for multitude.

⁶ And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims. ^6 (i)Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord ^(j)to its place in ^(k)the inner sanctuary of the house, in the Most Holy Place, underneath the wings of the cherubim. ⁶ Then the priests put the Ark of the Agreement with the Lord in its place inside the Most Holy Place in the Temple, under the wings of the golden creatures.

⁶ The priests carried the chest into the most holy place and put it under the winged creatures,

⁶ The cohanim brought the ark for the covenant of Adonai in to its place inside the sanctuary of the house, to the Especially Holy Place, under the wings of the k'ruvim.

They brought it into the most holy place of the house, under the wings of the cherubim. ⁶ Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the most holy place, underneath the wings of the cherubim. ⁶ So the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Yahweh into its place, into the shrine of the house, into the holy of holies, - under the wings of the cherubim.⁶ And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord into its place, into the oracle of the temple, into the holy of holies, under the wings of the cherubims.⁶ Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, in the inner sanctuary of the house, in the most holy place, underneath the wings of the cherubim.⁶ And the priests bring in the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH to its place, to the oracle of the house, to the Holy of Holies, to the place of the wings of the cherubim;^6-9 Then the priests brought the Chest of the Covenant of God to its place in the Inner Sanctuary, the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim. The outspread wings of the cherubim stretched over the Chest and its poles. The poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the entrance to the Inner Sanctuary, but were not noticeable farther out. They're still there today. There was nothing in the Chest but the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb where God made a covenant with Israel after bringing them up from Egypt.⁶ Then ^(C1)the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD ^(C2)to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the most holy place, ^(C3)under the wings of the cherubim.⁷ For the cherubim were spreading their wings over^(F1) the place of the ark, so that the cherubim covered the ark and its poles from above.^{(C1) 7} For the Keruvim spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the Keruvim covered the ark and the poles of it above.

⁷ For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above. ⁷ For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, so that the cherubim overshadowed the ark and its poles.
