Then David gave orders: "No one carries the Chest of God except the Levites; God designated them and them only to carry the Chest of God and be available full time for service in the work of worship."

2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them has the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister to him forever.2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the Lord chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever. 2 Then David said that no one but the Levites may carry (b)the ark of God, for the Lord had chosen them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister to him forever. 2 David said, "Only the Levites may carry the Ark of God. The Lord chose them to carry the Ark of the Lord and to serve him forever." 2 Then David said, "Only the Levites may carry the ark of God, for the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to serve before him perpetually." 2 Then David said, "(C1)No one is to carry the ark of God except the Levites; for the LORD chose them to carry the ark of God and to minister to Him forever."2 Then David said, "(C1)No one is to carry the ark of God except the Levites; for the LORD chose them to carry the ark of the LORD and to serve Him forever."2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them has Yahweh chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister to him forever. 2 Then Dauid saide, None ought to carie the Arke of God, but the Leuites: for the Lorde hath chosen them to beare the Arke of the Lord, and to minister vnto him for euer.2 And David said, "(C1)No one is to carry the ark of God but the Levites; for Yahweh chose them to carry the ark of (F1)God and to minister to Him forever."2 Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the LORD has chosen them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister before Him forever.” 2 He said, "Only Levites will be allowed to carry the chest, because the Lord has chosen them to do that work and to serve him forever." 2 Then David said, "No one but the L'vi'im should carry the ark of God, because Adonai chose them to carry the ark of Adonai and to serve him forever."
2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites, for them has Jehovah chosen to carry the ark of God, and to serve him for ever. 2 Then he said, "Only the Levites are permitted to carry God's Holy Box. The Lord chose them to carry it and to serve him forever."2 Then David commanded the Levites to carry the ark of the LORD and the instruments of the tabernacle; for the Levites the LORD had chosen to minister and to carry the ark of the LORD, and to look after it for ever. 2 (a)Then he said, "Only Levites should carry the Covenant Box, because they are the ones the Lord chose to carry it and to serve him forever." 2 Then David ordered that none except the Levites should carry the ark of God, for Yahweh had chosen them to carry the ark of Yahweh and to serve him forever. 2 Then David said, None should bear the ark of God except the Levites, for Jehovah had chosen them to bear the ark of God, and to serve Him forever.2 At that tyme sayde Dauid: The Arke of God is not to be borne, but onely of ye Leuites: for them hath the LORDE chosen to beare the Arke of the LORDE, and to mynister vnto him for euer. 2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath Jehovah chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever. 2 Then David said, The ark of God may not be moved by any but the Levites, for they have been marked out by God to take the ark of God, and to do his work for ever.2 Then Dauid saide: The arke of God ought not to be carryed but of the Leuites: For them hath the Lord chosen to beare the arke of the Lorde, and to minister vnto him for euer.2 Then David said: 'None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites; for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of the LORD, and to minister unto Him for ever.' 2 Then Dauid sayd, None ought to carie the Arke of God, but the Leuites: for them hath the Lord chosen to cary the Arke of God, and to minister vnto him for euer. 2 Then said David, It is not lawful for any to bear the ark of God, but the Levites; for the Lord has chosen them to bear the ark of the Lord, and to minister to him for ever. 2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever. 2 Thanne Dauid seide, It is vnleueful, that the arke of God be borun of `ony thing no but of the dekenes, whiche the Lord chees to bere it, and `for to mynystre to hym `til in to with outen ende.2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for Yahweh has chosen them to carry the ark of God, and to minister to him forever.2 Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister to him for ever.2 Then David said, "No one may carry the ark of God but the Levites, for the LORD has chosen them to carry the ark of God and to minister before Him forever." 2 Then he commanded, "No one except the Levites may carry the Ark of God. The Lord has chosen them to carry the Ark of the Lord and to serve him forever." 2 Then David said, "No one but the Levites may carry the special box of God. For the Lord chose them to carry the special box of the agreement and to serve Him forever." 2 Then David commanded that no one but the Levites were to carry the ark of God, for the Lord had chosen them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister to him forever. 2 Then, said David, None must carry the ark of God, save the Levites, - for, of them, did Yahweh make choice, to bear the ark of Yahweh, and to attend it, unto times age-abiding.2 Then David said: No one ought to carry the ark of God, but the Levites, whom the Lord hath chosen to carry it, and to minister unto himself for ever.2 Then David said, "No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, for the LORD chose them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister to him for ever."2 Then said David, `None [are] to carry the ark of God, except the Levites, for on them hath Jehovah fixed to carry the ark of God, and to serve Him -- unto the age.'2 Then David said, "None [are] to carry the Ark of God, except the Levites, for YHWH has fixed on them to carry the Ark of God and to serve Him for all time."2 Then David said, "(C1)No one is to carry the ark of God but the Levites; for the LORD chose them to carry the ark of God and to minister to Him forever."
3 David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem(C1) to bring the ark of the Lord to the place he had prepared for it.(C2) 3 David assembled all Yisra'el at Yerushalayim, to bring up the ark of the LORD to its place, which he had prepared for it.
3 And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lord unto his place, which he had prepared for it. 3 (c)And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord (d)to its place, which he had prepared for it.
3 David called all the people of Israel to come to Jerusalem. He wanted to bring the Ark of the Lord to the place he had made for it. 3 David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring the ark of the Lord up to the place he had prepared for it. 3 And (C1)David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD (C2)to the place which he had prepared for it.3 And (C1)David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD (C2)to its place which he had prepared for it.3 David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Yahweh to its place, which he had prepared for it. 3 And Dauid gathered all Israel together to Ierusalem to bring vp the Arke of the Lorde vnto his place, which he had ordeined for it.3 Then (C1)David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of Yahweh (C2)to its place which he had prepared for it.3 And David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD to the place he had prepared for it.
3 Next, David invited everyone to come to Jerusalem and watch the sacred chest being carried to the place he had set up for it.

3 Then David summoned all Israel to Jerusalem to bring the Ark of the Lord to the place he had prepared for it. 3 David gathered all Israel together at Jerusalem, to bring up the special box of the Lord to the place he had made for it. 3 David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place, which he had prepared for it. 3 So David convoked all Israel, unto Jerusalem, - to bring up the ark of Yahweh, unto the place thereof, which he had prepared for it.3 And he gathered all Israel together into Jerusalem, that the ark of God might be brought into its place, which he had prepared for it.3 And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD to its place, which he had prepared for it.3 And David assembleth all Israel unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Jehovah unto its place that he had prepared for it.3 And David assembles all Israel to Jerusalem, to bring up the Ark of YHWH to its place that he had prepared for it.3-10 David then called everyone in Israel to assemble in Jerusalem to bring up the Chest of God to its specially prepared place. David also called in the family of Aaron and the Levites. From the family of Kohath, Uriel the head with 120 relatives; from the family of Merari, Asaiah the head with 220 relatives; from the family of Gershon, Joel the head with 130 relatives; from the family of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the head with 200 relatives; from the family of Hebron, Eliel the head with 80 relatives; from the family of Uzziel, Amminadab the head with 112 relatives.3 And (C1)David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD (C2)to its place which he had prepared for it.4 Then he gathered together the descendants of Aaron and the Levites:

5 From the Kohathites, Uriel the leader and 120 of his relatives; 5 of the sons of Kehat, Uri'el the chief, and his brothers one hundred twenty;
5 Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty: 5 of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, with 120 of his brothers; 5 There were one hundred twenty people from Kohath's family group, with Uriel as their leader.

5 There were 120 people from the tribe of Kohath.
