Brown-Driver-Briggs Expanded Definition
II. [נָצָה] verb Niph`al, Hiph`il struggle (Late Hebrew id., Hithpa`el (Jastr928); Aramaic נְצָא, quarrel; Arabic apprehendit, arripuit aliquem antiis suis, Ethiopic vellere, evellere, are perhaps denominative from , (see נוֺצָה), so Thes); —

Niph`al reciprocal struggle with each other: Imperfect 3 masculine plural יִנָּצוּ Exodus 21:22 (E), Leviticus 24:10 (H), 2 Samuel 14:6; ׳יִנּיַחְדָּו Deuteronomy 25:11; Participle נִצִּים Exodus 2:13 (E); all of physical struggle, wrestling, and the like.

Hiph`il engage in a struggle against: Perfect 3 plural הִצּוּ Numbers 26:9 (עַל); Infinitive construct suffix הַצֹּתָם Numbers 26:9 (עַל); הַצּוֺתוֺ אֶת Psalm 60:2 (title); only here of war, hence Klo's suggestion (compare Buhl13) הַכּוֺתוֺ is plausible (compare 2 Samuel 8:3,5,9).

III. [נָצָה] verb fall in ruins; —

Qal Imperfect 3 feminine plural עָרַיִךְ תִּצֶּינָה מֵאֵין יוֺשֵׁב Jeremiah 4:7 thy cities shall fall in ruins (read probably תִּנָּצֶינָה Niph`al).

Niph`al Participle plural גַּלִּים נִצִּים ruined heaps, i.e. ruin-heaps, 2 Kings 19:25 = Isaiah 37:26. — On Jeremiah 2:15; Jeremiah 9:9; Jeremiah 9:11; Jeremiah 46:19 see יצת.

נִצָּה see נצץ. נצָתָהּ Lev Jeremiah 1:16 see נוֺצָה above

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

נָצָה unused in Kal. [The occurrences of נָצָא are referred here in Thes., and this root is not divided into two]

(1) pr. to fly, i.q. נָצָא and נָצַץ No. 3. Hence נוֹצָה pinion of birds, and Arab. نَاصِيَةُ feather of birds; hence locks of hair hanging over the forehead, and, as it were, flying. From this noun is formed

(2) Arab. نَصَا and نَصَأَ to seize any one by the locks, and Conj. III, to seize one another by the hair. Hence in Hebr. to quarrel, to strive, comp. Syr. and Chaldee ܢܨܳܙ, נְצָא i.q. Hebr. רִיב, and Arab. نطا Conj. VI, id.

Hiphil, הִצָּה to contend, to strive. Numbers 26:9, בְּהַצּוֹתָם עַל־יְיָ “when they strove with Jehovah;” hence to wage war. Psalms 60:2, בְּהַצּוֹתוֹ אֶת־אֲרָם נַהֲרַיִם “when he waged war with Mesopotamia.”

Niphal נִצָּה to strive one with another. Deuteronomy 25:11, כִּי יִנָּצוּ אֲנָשִׁים יַחְדָּו “if men strive together;” Exodus 2:13, 21:22 Leviticus 24:10; 2 Samuel 14:6.

Derivatives, נוֹצָה, מַצָּה, מַצּוּת.

II. נָצָה prop. i.q. Arab. نضا to strip off a garment from any one, to draw out a sword from the sheath (kindred to יָצָא). Hence to make a land empty, to despoil, to strip it of inhabitants (compare בָּקַק No. 1, a, נָקָה Niph.), and intrans. to be desolated. Jeremiah 4:7, עָרַיִךְ תִּצֶּינָה “thy cities shall be laid waste.” LXX. αἱ πόλεις σου καθαιρεθήσονται.

Niphal, id. Isaiah 37:26, גַּלִּים נִצִּים “desolate heaps;” 2 Kings 19:25.

This signification may be connected with the former (No. I) [as is done in Thes.], by deriving it from the idea of making war, to be laid waste, desolated in war; compare حرب to wage war, whence حَرِيبُ and مَحْرُوبُ stripped and spoiled in war.
