לוֹט m.
(1) a covering, a veil. Isaiah 25:7, הַלּוֹט הַלּוֹט עַל־כָּל־הָעַמִּים “the covering which is spread over all nations,” that which covers their faces and makes them sad. [Rather, the vail which keeps their hearts from God.]
(2) pr.n. Lot, the son of Abraham’s brother, Genesis 13:1, sq.; 19:1, sq.; the ancestor of the Ammonites and Moabites, who were called, on this account, the children of Lot, Deuteronomy 2:9; Psalms 83:9.
