Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

זָמִיר m. Song of Solomon 2:12, the time of the pruning of vines (of the form בָּצִיר, חָרִישׁ Lehrg. § 120, No. 5), from זָמַר. Well rendered by the LXX. καιρὸς τῆς τομῆς. Symm. κ. τῆς κλαδεύσεως. Vulg. tempus putationis. Others translate it, the time of the singing of birds, which is contrary to the use of the verb זָמַר and to the analogy of the form קָטִיל.
