 בָּכָא noun [masculine] balsam-tree (see Arabic Dozy ZMG 1869,188 but Löw No. 47; according to TA like , an eruca, compare Lane under the word; perhaps compare give little milk, of camel, i.e. drop, drip); plural בְּכָאִים 2 Samuel 5:23,24 = 1 Chronicles 14:14,15; singular in עֵמֶק הַבָּכָא Psalm 84:7 balsam-vale, compare De Che.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

בָּכָא an unused root, i.q. בָּכָה prop. to drop, to distil; hence, to weep, to shed tears. (Arab. بكأ to pour milk drop by drop.)

בָּכָא

(1)  weeping, lamentation; Arab. بُكاَءُ بَكَاءُ. עֵמֶק הַבָּכָא the valley of weeping, or of lamentation, Iammerthal, pr.n. of a valley in Palestine, so called from some reason connected with its name; probably, gloomy and sterile. An allusion is made to its etymology, Psalms 84:7, עֹבְרֵי בְּעֵמֶק הַבָּכָא מַעְיָן יְשִׁיתוּהוּ “passing through the valley of lamentation, they (the sacred pilgrims) make it fountains.”

(2) pl. בְּכָאִים 2 Samuel 5:23, 24 2 Samuel 5:24; 1 Chronicles 14:14, 15 1 Chronicles 14:15, some tree, so called from its weeping, dropping, according to Celsius (Hierobot. i. 335-340), Arab. بَكَاءُ like the balsam-tree, whence white drops distil of a cold and pungent taste.
