συγκαθ-ίζω, make to sit together or in a body, τὰ συνέδρια Hell.Oxy. 11.4; τὸν λαόν LXX Exodus 18:13 : — Med. or Pass., sit in conclave, meet for deliberation, ς. τὸ δικαστήριον X. HG 5.2.35, cf. D. Prooem. 23 (v.l. -καθεζ- ).
II intr. in Act., sit together, Lib. Or. 11.216 .

συγκαθίζω (T WH συνκαθίζω (cf. σύν, II. at the end)): 1 aorist συνεκαθισα; (see καθίζω);
a. transitive, to cause to sit down together, place together: τινα, followed by ἐν with a dative of the place, Ephesians 2:6.
b. intransitive, to sit down together: Luke 22:55 (where Lachmann text περικαθίζω). (Xenophon, Aristotle, Plutarch, others; the Sept..)

Συναντάω does not seem to appear in Roman times, but καταντάω is common (e.g. P Tebt I. 59.3—B.C. 99). See Anz Subsidia, p. 277 f. For the double compd. συναπαντάω, cf. PSI VI. 689.9 (v/A.D.) π [ρ ]ο ̣ς ̣ σε σ ̣υ ̣ν ̣α ̣παντῆσαι ἅμα ταῖ [ς ] ἄλλαις ἐργάταις.
The subst. συνάντημα (lit. = ";occurrence";), which in Exodus 9:14 is used to translate the Heb. word for ";plague,"; is found in the same sinister sense in the magic P Leid Wxviii. 4 (ii/iii A.D.) οὐ δαιμόνιον, οὐ συνάτημα (l. συνάντημα), οὐδὲ ἀλλό τι τῶν καθ᾽ Ἅιδου πονηρόν, and in the Christian amulet P Iand 6.16 (v/vi A.D.) πονηρὸν συ [[υ ]]νάντημα, see the editor’s note.
