μαλακία, in the sense of bodily weakness, is found conjoined with νόσος, as in Matthew 4:23 al., in the Christian amulets P Oxy VIII. 1151.27 (v/A.D. ?) ὁ ἰασάμενος πᾶσαν νόσον καὶ πᾶσαν μαλακίαν, ἴασαι καὶ ἐπίσκεψαι καὶ τὴν δούλην σου Ἰωαννίαν, BGU III. 954.12 (c. vi/A.D.) (= Selections, p. 133) πᾶσαν δὲ νόσον καὶ πᾶσαν μαλακίαν ἄφελε ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ. Cf. Menander Fragm. p. 58 μηκέτ᾽ αἰτιῶ θεόν, | ἤδη δὲ τῇ σαυτοῦ ζυγομάχει μαλακίᾳ, and see Hobart, p. 63. For the verb μαλακίζομαι, as in Genesis 42:38 al., cf. syll 850.24 (B.C. 173–2) εἰ δὲ μαλακισθείη Σωτήριχος, ὃ μὴ γίνοιτο, πλεῖον διμήνου, ἐπαποδότω τοῦ πλείονος χρόνου Σωτήριχος Ἀμύντᾳ, and Preisigke 158 ἐμαλακίσθη καὶ ὁ θεὸς αὐτῶι ἐβοήθησε αὐθημερή.
