2. complaint, sad strain, h.Pan. 18; Τοργόνων οὔλιον θ. Pi. P. 12.8; θρῆνοι καὶ ὀδυρμοί Pl. R. 398d, etc.: pl., lamentations, θρήνων ᾠδάς S.
