Qal Perfect ׳ז Exodus 24:6; Leviticus 17:6, suffix זְרָקוֺ Exodus 9:8, זָָֽרְקָה Hosea 7:9 (12t. Perfect); Imperfect יִזְרֹק Leviticus 7:2 16t.; Infinitive לִזְרֹק Ezekiel 43:18; Imperative זְרֹק Ezekiel 10:2; Participle זֹרֵק Leviticus 7:14, plural זֹרְקִים 2 Chronicles 30:16;
1 toss (in handfuls, see Exodus 9:8; or from a bowl, מִזְרָק; opposed to הִזָּה to sprinkle with the finger):
a. cummin Isaiah 28:25, dust, followed by עַל 2 Chronicles 34:4; Job 2:12, ashes השׁמימה, heavenward, Exodus 9:8,10 (P), coals of fire על העיר Ezekiel 10:2.

2 intransitive (si vera lectio) Hosea 7:9 גַּם שֵׂיבָה זָָֽרְקָה בּוֺ grey hairs are profuse upon him (? read זָָֽרְחָה, as in 2 Chronicles 26:19).
Pu`al Perfect זֹרַק, of water of purification poured over (עַל) one defiled by a corpse Numbers 19:18,20 (P).
זָרַק to scatter (a kindred root to זָרָה, זָרַע)
(a) dry things, such as dust, Job 2:12; 2 Chronicles 34:4 cinders, Exodus 9:8, 10 live coals, Ezekiel 10:2.
(b) more often liquid things (to sprinkle, fprengen), such as water, Numbers 19:13 blood, Exodus 24:6, 29:16, 20 Exodus 29:20; Leviticus 1:5, 11 3:2, and often besides. Followed by עַל to sprinkle upon, Exod. loc. cit. Intrans. Hosea 7:9, שֵׂיבָה זָרְֽקָה בוֹ גַּם “grey hairs also are scattered upon him.” Compare the Lat. spargere, in the same sense, Prop. iii. 4, 24, and Arab. ذرأ to scatter, Med. E. to be grey on the front of the head (prop. to be sprinkled over with grey hairs, to begin to be grey).
