בָּחִיר m., adj. verb, elect, chosen, ἐ̓κλεκτός: only in the phrase בְּחִיר יְהֹוָה chosen of God, 2 Samuel 21:6 of Moses, Psalms 106:23 of the people of Israel, Isaiah 43:20, 45:4 (parall. עֶבֶר יְהֹוָה); of the pious and prophets, Isaiah 42:1 (according to others, of the Messiah [this is of course the true application]); pl. of the pious, Isaiah 65:9, 15 Isaiah 65:15, 22 Isaiah 65:22; Psalms 105:43.
