(1) to creep, to crawl, used of reptiles and smaller water animals, Genesis 7:21; Leviticus 11:29, 41 Leviticus 11:41, 42 Leviticus 11:42, 43 Leviticus 11:43. Sometimes a place (earth or sea) is said to creep with creeping things, i.e. to abound in them (von etwas wimmeln), followed by an acc. (compare הָלַךְ No. 4), as the sea with aquatic creatures, Genesis 1:20, 21 Egypt with frogs, Ex. 7:28 Psalms 105:30. Hence
(2) to multiply selves, to be multiplied, of beasts, Genesis 8:17, 9:7 of persons, Exodus 1:7. Eth. ሠረጸ፡ to sprout forth. Hence
