Qal: 1. Imperative masculine singular שְׁפֹת הַסִּיר 2 Kings 4:38 set on the pot, so Ezekiel 24:3, compare Ezekiel 24:3 (strike out Co, not Krae; Toy allows); later more Generally (subject ׳י): Imperfect 2 masculine singular suffix תִּשְׁמְּתֵנִי Psalm 22:16 in the dust of death thou settest me.
2 ordain, establish, 2 masculine singular תִּשְׁמֹּת שָׁלוֺם לָ֑נוּ Isaiah 26:12.
שָׁפַת fut. יִשְׁפֹּת
(1) to place, to put (i.q. שׁוּת which I suppose to be itself cognate to this verb, so that פ is softened into ב, and even into ו; compare עִפֵּר, עִוֵּר; חָפַר and חוּר to dig; טָפַח and טוּחַ to spread out, and to spread over. Also שָׁפַט and שָׁבַט). 2 Kings 4:38; Ezekiel 24:3; Psalms 22:16, לַעֲפַר מָוֶת תִּשְׁפְּתֵנִי “into the dust of death (in the sepulchre) thou wilt put me.”
(2) followed by a dat. of pers., to give, Isaiah 26:12.
