 I. [שָׁפָה] verb sweep bare (Arabic (), of wind, raise and carry off dust, of horse, scanty in hair of forelock; Late Hebrew Pi`el plane off; Aramaic Passive participle level ( Isaiah 40:4 = מִישׁוֺר), smooth, limpid, make level, smooth (and derivatives)); —

Niph`al be wind-swept, bare; Participle הַרנִֿשְׁמֶּה Isaiah 13:2 a bare mountain;

Pu`al Perfect consecutive וְשֻׁפוּ עַצְמֹתָיו Job 33:21 Qr his bones are laid bare (so lean is he; Kt וּשְׁפִי bareness are his bones).

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

שָׁפָה

(1) prop. to scratch, to scrape; hence to scrape off, to pare off. Aram. ܫܦܐܳ to file, prop. to make smooth, bald, ܫܘܽܦܝܺܢܐܳ a file, ܫܳܦܝܺܬܐܳ a filing, a paring.

(2) i.q. Syr. Pa. to purge, to cleanse from dregs, compare Talmud. שׁפה to filter. Hence שָׁפָה.

Niphal, part. bare, bald, naked (used of a mountain), Isaiah 13:2. LXX. ὄρος πεδινόν.

Pual, Job 33:21 קרי, שֻׁפּוּ עַצמוֹתָיו “his bones become naked,” naked of flesh.

Derivatives, שָׁפָה, שְׁפִי and the pr.n. שְׁפוֹ, יִשְׁפָּה.

שָׁפָה or שֵׁפָה only in pl. 2 Samuel 17:29, שְׁפוֹת בָּקָר according to Targ., Syr., and the Hebrews, cheeses of kine, so called from the idea of filtering and cleansing from dregs, see the root No. 2. Abulwalid explains it to mean, slices of curdled milk.
