Qal Participle plural וְסֹכְרִים Ezra 4:5 and hiring against (על) them agents.

שָׂכַר verb hire (Late Hebrew id.; Sabean תשכר hire oneself out (?), recompense (?) DHM Hofmus. 11; Ethiopic hired; Arabic reward, thank, modern Palestinian hired, of land ploughed by hire, Bergheim PEQ 1894,196; Palmyrene שכרא perhaps rewarding Lzb375); —

סָכַר not used in Kal, i.q. סָנַר to shut (Syr. and Arab. ܣܟܰܪ, سكر id.).

Niphal, to be shut up, Genesis 8:2 Ps. 63:12.

Piel, i.q. סִגֵּר and הִסְגִּיר to give over, to deliver, Isaiah 19:4.
