קַרְקַע m. quadril.
(1) the ground, the floor (compare Arab. قَرْقَرُ and قَرقُ an even floor).
(a) in the holy tabernacle and temple, Numbers 5:17; 1 Kings 6:15, 16:30 7:7, מִן הַקַּרְקַע וְעַד הַקַּרְקַע “from one floor to the other,” or to the ceiling (which is the floor of the upper story), von einem Boden zum andern, i.e the walls from the bottom to the top (not as De Wette, über den ganzen Fußboden).
(b) used of the bottom of the sea, Amos 9:3.
(2) [Karkaa], pr.n. of a town in the southern region of the tribe of Judah, Joshua 15:3.
