קָצֵר
(1) Med. A and fut. יִקְצֹר to cut off, specially grain; hence to reap, to harvest, Jeremiah 12:13 Levit. 19:9 25:5. Part. קוֹצֵר a reaper, Ruth 2:3, seqq. Metaph. Job 4:8, “those who sow wickedness reap the same.” Proverbs 22:8. Compare זָרַע.
(2) Med. E (compare the adj. קָצֵר) fat. יִקְצַר (but once יִקְצֹר Proverbs 10:27), intrans. to be shortened, cut off; hence to be short, Isaiah 28:20. Specially
(a) קָצְרָה יָדִי my hand is (too) short, I have but little power, I have no might, Numbers 11:23; Isaiah 50:2, 59:1. Compare Arab. قاصر اليد short of hand, and الذراع قصير short of arm, used of a feeble person; and, on the other hand, اليد الطو لى a long hand, used of power, see more in Comment. on Isaiah 50:2.
(b) נַפְשִׁי, קָֽצְרָה רוּחִי “my spirit is short,” i.e. I am impatient, my patience is wearied out, Numbers 21:4; Judges 16:16 followed by בְּ on account of anything, Judges 10:16. Comp. אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם under אָרֵךְ.
