 [קָלַס] verb mock, scoff ( Sirach 11:4 תקלס, text by Adler JQ xii (1900), 470); —

Pi`el Infinitive construct לְקַלֵּסאָתְנָן Ezekiel 16:31 to scoff at hire (of Jerusalem under figure of harlot), but ᵐ5ᵑ6 Symm collect, read לִקְבֹּץ Gr Toy Krae (or לְלַקֵּט, Co).

Hithpa`el mock, deride, with ב person, Imperfect 3 masculine singular יִתְקַלָּ֑ס Habakkuk 1:10; 3 masculine plural יִתְקַלְּסוּ Ezekiel 22:5, ׳וַיִּת 2 Kings 2:23.

Piel, to scoff at, to scorn. Ezekiel 16:31, “thou art not like a harlot לְקַלֵּס אֶתְנָן who scoffs at her hire,” sc. that more may be given. Well rendered by the Vulg. nec facta es sicut meretrix fastidio augens pretium.

Hithpael, id., followed by בְּ 2 Kings 2:23; Ezekiel 22:5; Habakkuk 1:10. Hence
