 צִמֹּ֫רֶן noun [masculine] nail (of finger), stylus-point; — construct ׳צ Jeremiah 17:1; plural suffix צִמָּרְנֶיהָ Deuteronomy 21:12; —

1 finger-nail Deuteronomy 21:12 (compare RS K 178; Semitic i. 407,2nd ed. 428 We Heid. 2. 171).

2 transf., שָׁמִיר׳בְּצ Jeremiah 17:1 with a point of diamond (compare Plin NH 37,4).

צִפֹּרֶן m.

(1)  the nail of the finger, Deuteronomy 21:12 from the root צָפַר No. II. (Arab. ظُفْرُ; Chald. טְפַר id. To the Hebr. צִפֹּרֶן nearly approaches Greek περονή; Germ. Sporn; Eng. Spur.)

(2) a point (of a nail) of a style (of adamant), Jeremiah 17:1. Comp. Plin. H. N. xxxvii. c. 4. 15.
