IV. צפר (√ of following; meaning dubious; Late Hebrew = Biblical Hebrew; so Arabic , , Ethiopic Assyrian ƒupru; Aramaic פַר, טוּפְרָא, , all nail).
צְפִירָה f. (from the root צָפַר No. 1)
(1) prop. a crown, Isaiah 28:5.
(2) a circle, a circuit; hence used of the vicissitude of events and fortune, as if going in a circle (compare סְבִיבוֹת Ecclesiastes 1:6). Ezekiel 7:7, בָּאָה הַצְּפִירָה אֵלֶיךָ “the circle comes to thee,” which is well rendered by Abulwalid انتهى الدور اليك.
