פֶּרַע m.
(1) hair (so called from the idea of shaving, see the root No. 2), Numbers 6:5; Ezekiel 44:20.
(2) a leader, commander of an army, so called from his going before, see the root No. 3. Pl. פְּרָעוֹ (compare as to the sex of nouns of office, Lehrg. 468, 878), Deuteronomy 32:42; Judges 5:2. Arab. فَرْعُ a prince, the head of a family.
