 אַמֶּ֫דֶן noun [masculine] palace (Syriac ; both from Persian apadâna compare Spieg Altpers. Keilschr. 128, but this = treasury, armoury, M. Schultze ZMG 1885,48 f ** DieulafoyRÉJ xvi {1888}, p. cclxxvf. makes apadâna, more precisely, throneroom, compare Dr Du 11,45.) אָהֳלֵי אַמַּדְֿנוֺ Daniel 11:45 of the 'king of the north', i.e. Antiochus Epiphanes.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

אַפֶּדֶן i.q. Syr. ܐܳܦܰܕܢܳܐ palace, Daniel 11:45, אָֽהֳלֵי אַפֵּדְנוֹ “his tabernacles, like unto palaces.” It is the Arab. فَذَنُ high tower, fortress, castle, with the prefix of Aleph prosthetic, followed by Dagesh forte, comp. אַפִּדְיוֹן, and Ch. דָּם, אֲדַם, אַדַּם blood, גַּן, אֲגַן, אַגַּן garden.
