אַסְפָּתָא [Aspatha], Persic pr.n. of a son of Haman, Esther 9:7. Comp. اسيه espe a horse, bullock, Zend. aspo, aspahé, a horse; Sanscr. asva, id. [“Probably Sanscr. Aspadâta, Pers. اسيداده, ‘given by the horse’ (i.e. by Bramah under the form of a horse), comp. Gr. Ἀσπαδής. So Benfey, Pott.”]
