Qal Perfect 1 singular עָשַׁרְתִּי Hosea 12:9 I have become rich; Imperfect 3 masculine singular יֶעְשַׁר Job 15:29 he shall not be rich. — 1 Kings 22:49 read עָשָׂה
Hiph`il 1. make rich, with accusative of person: Perfect 1 singular הֶעֱשַׁרְתִּי Genesis 14:23; 2 feminine singular הֶעֱשַׁרְתְּ Ezekiel 27:33 (of personified Tyre; + בְּרֹב הוֺנַיִח); Imperfect 3 masculine singular suffix יַעְשְׁרֶנּוּ (Ges§ 61 g),+ accusative of congnate meaning with verb עשֶׁר; 2 masculine singular suffix רַבַּת תַּעְשְׁרֶנָּהּ Psalm 65:10 thou dost greatly enrich it (the land); object omitted 3 feminine singular תַּעֲשִׁיר Proverbs 10:22, so Participle מַעֲשִׁיר 1 Samuel 2:7 ׳י maketh rich (opposed to מוֺרִישׁ).
2 gain riches, absolute: Imperfect 3 masculine singular יַעֲשִׁר Psalm 49:17, יַעֲשִׁיר Proverbs 21:7; Daniel 11:2 (+ accusative of congnate meaning with verb עשֶׁר); 3 feminine singular תַּעֲשִׁיר Proverbs 10:4; 1 singular וָאַעֲשִׁר Zechariah 11:5(Gi Kt; van d. H. Baer וַאעֲשִׁר); 3 masculine plural וַיַּעֲשִׁירוּ Jeremiah 5:27; Infinitive construct לְהַעֲשִׁיר Proverbs 23:4; Proverbs 28:20.
Hithpa`el Participle מִתְעַשֵּׁר Proverbs 13:7 one enriching himself.
עָשַׁר fut. יֶעְשַׁר prop. to be straight (kindred to the verbs אָשַׁר, כָּשַׁר, יָשַׁר), hence to prosper, to be happy, specially to be rich, Job 15:29; Hosea 12:9. Aram. עֲתַר, ܥܬܰܪ id.
Piel, to build up, pr. to erect, from the primary meaning of the root. So once, 1 Kings 22:49 כתיב, יְהוֹשָׁפָט עִשֵּׁר אֳנִיּוֹת “Jehoshaphat built ships;” קרי עָשָׂה and so 2 Chronicles 20:36, 37 2 Chronicles 20:37. A learned writer, who has treated of this passage in Jen. Lit. Zeit. 1830, iv. p. 380, compares for the same sense, “Arab. عشر to put together, to join together, or as I prefer, to compare, to put together;” but I know of no authority for this meaning.
Hiphil
(1) to enrich, Genesis 14:23; 1 Samuel 2:7, 17:25, etc. Metaph. Psalms 65:10, רַבַּת תַּעְשְׁרֶנָּה “thou greatly enrichest it” (the earth), thou endowest it and adornest it with most beautiful gifts.
(2) intrans. to become rich (prop. to make riches, see Gramm., § 52:2 note), Psalms 49:17; Proverbs 10:4. Followed by an acc. of the thing with which one is enriched, Daniel 11:2.
Hithpael, to feign oneself rich, Proverbs 13:7.
