עֵקֶר m.
(1) prop. a root (Arab. عَقْرُ, Ch. עִקַּר); hence a shoot (see שֹׁרֶשׁ ), metaph. used of a man of a foreign race, who had settled in the Holy Land, Leviticus 25:47.
