 [עַצֶּ֫בֶת] noun feminine hurt, injury, pain; — עַצָּ֑בֶת Proverbs 10:10 he that winketh with the eye causeth hurt (stirs up strife, etc.); construct עַצְּבַתלֵֿב pain of heart Proverbs 15:13 (opposed to לֵב שָׂמֵחַ); plural suffix עַצְּבֹתָ֫י Job 9:28 my pains, so read perhaps also Job 7:15 (for ᵑ0עַצְמוֺתָ֫י); עַצְּבוֺתָם Psalm 16:4 (due to idolatry; > idols ᵑ7ᵑ9 We and others); ׳מְחַבֵּשׁ לְע Psalm 147:3 binding up their hurts.

עַצֶּבֶת f. constr. עַצְּבַת (as if from עַצְּבָה), pl. constr. עַצְּבֹות, with suff. עַצְּבֹותַי, עַצְּבֹותָם.

(1) an idol, Psalms 16:4.

(2) pain

(a) of body, Job 9:28.

(b) of mind, Psalms 147:3, מְחַבֵּשׁ לְעַצְּבֹותָם “he binds up their pains,” the wounds of their minds; Proverbs 10:10 with the addition of לֵב Proverbs 15:13.
