שָׂתַם verb usually stop up, in sense of shut out, shut ears against (late "" form of סָתַם; yet awkward; Ba Esther 9 compare Arabic frustrate, disappoint); —
Qal Perfect 3 masculine singular תְּפִלָּתִי׳שׂ Lamentations 3:8 (> van d. H. שָׂתָם) he (׳י) hath shut out my prayer (Bu ׳מתּ׳שׂ shut up [himself] from).
שָׂתַם i.q. סָתַם to stop, to obstruct. Lamentations 3:9, שָׂתַם תְּפִלָּתִי “he obstructeth my prayers,” that they do not come to God. Comp. Lamentations 3:44.
