		אֶבְיָתָר (“father of plenty,” for אַבְיָחָר), [Abiathar], pr.n. of a son of Ahimelech the priest, very closely joined in friendship to David, on whom, together with Zadok, the high priesthood was bestowed by David, of which he was deprived by Solomon, 1 Samuel 22:20, sqq.; 23:6 30:7 2 Samuel 15:24 as to the passage, 2 Samuel 8:17, see אֲחִימֶלֶךְ.
