נִשְׁכָּה , elsewhere לִשְׁכָּה which see; a chamber, a cell in the courts of the temple, Nehemiah 3:30, 12:44 13:7. The derivation is not clear. Some consider it to be transposed for שִׁכְנָה a dwelling; I should rather regard it as the Pers. نشاه a seat, dwelling, form نشستن to sit down. As such a chamber was called in Greek λέσχη, it might easily be supposed that לִשְׁכָּה was taken from that word; but a word of Greek origin in the book of Samuel (1 Samuel 9:22) could hardly be admitted.
