Combined these mean "chaos mark". The length of time that something exists and ends. (eng: mute; moot - as a dead point; mortal - with an additional r and l; mate - of "check mate" meaning "king is dead")

 מָתַי43 interrogative adverb when? (Arabic ; Assyrian mati: in Late Hebrew and Aramaic with the interrogative אַי, אֵימָתִי, אֵימָת, ), in OT only of future time:

a. alone, Genesis 30:30 מָתַי אעשׂה גם אנכילביתי when shall I also do, etc.? Amos 8:5; Psalm 41:6; Psalm 42:3; Psalm 94:8; Psalm 101:2; Psalm 119:82; Psalm 119:84; Proverbs 6:9; b Proverbs 23:35; Job 7:4 מָתַי אָקוּם, Nehemiah 2:6.

b.לְמָתַי against when? Exodus 8:5 לְמָתַילְךָ אַעְתִּיר.

מָתַי pr. extension, space of time; it becomes an interrogative adv. of time, when? (Arab. متى, Syr. ܙܶܡܬܰܝ, Chald. אֵימָתַי). Genesis 30:30; Psalms 42:3, 94:7 119:82. Without an interrogation (Syriac ܙܶܡܬܰܝ ܕ), Proverbs 23:35, מָתי אָקִיץ “when I awake.” Psalms 101:2.-לְמָתַי Exodus 8:5, and עַד מָתַי how long? 1 Samuel 16:4. אַחֲרֵי מָתי after how long a time? Jeremiah 13:27.
