[לָעַב] verb jest (Late Hebrew Hiph`il id.; ᵑ7לְעַב Ethpa`al id.; Syriac Ethpa`al mock, delight oneself, be greedy; Arabic play, sport, jest); — only
Hiph`il Participle ׳וַיִּהְיוּ מַלְעִבִים בְּ 2 Chronicles 36:16 and they were (continually) making jest at the messengers of God.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition
לָעַב unused in Kal. Arab. لَعِبَ to play, to jest, also to mock. (Kindred to the verbs לָעַג, לָעַז, see לוּעַ.) Chaldee לְעִיב mockery, אִתְלָעַב to mock at any one. Compare Gr. λώβη, λωβάομαι.
Hiphil, to mock at, followed by בִּ 2 Chronicles 36:16.
