Ἱεριχώ, Strabo Ἱερικοῦς, xvi. 2, § 41, Arabic ريحا, ريحى Rîha, see Relandi Palæstina, p. 383, and 829, seq. (If the primary form be יְרֵחוֹ, it may be rendered city of the moon, from יָרֵחַ and וֹ, הֹ=וֹן, as in the words עַכּוֹ, שְׁלֹמֹה, שִׁילוֹ; if יְרִיחוֹ, it signifies a fragrant place, from the root רִיחַ.)
