Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

יָנַק fut. יִינַק [“Ch. יְנַק, Syr. ܝܺܢܶܩ”] to suck, Job 3:12 properly a mother’s breast, followed by acc., Song of Solomon 8:1; Joel 2:16 but used also of other things, as Job 20:16, “he sucked the poison of asps.” Figuratively Isaiah 66:16, “thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles and the breasts of kings thou shalt suck,” i.e. thou shalt be enriched with the wealth of nations and kings. Deuteronomy 33:19, כִּי שֶׁפַע יַמִּים יִינָקוּ “for they shall suck the abundance of the seas,” i.e. of transmarine nations; Isaiah 66:11, 12 Isaiah 66:12. Part. יוֹנֵק

Hiphil הֵינִיק to give suck, to suckle, as a mother a child, Genesis 21:7; Exodus 2:7, 1 Samuel 1:23 also used of cattle, Genesis 32:16. Part. מֵינֶקֶת, with suffix מֵינִקְתּוֹ 2 Kings 11:2. Plural מֵינִיקוֹת Isaiah 49:23 (a woman), giving suck, subst. a nurse. As things which are sweet and pleasant to the taste are sucked, hence to cause to taste, to give to eat, any thing sweet, Deuteronomy 32:13.
