חַרְסוּת f. a pottery, potters’ workshop, Töpferen, where earthen vessels are made (from חֶרֶשׂ). Hence שַׁעִר הַחַרְסוּת the pottery gate, Jeremiah 19:2, a gate of Jerusalem near the valley of Hinnom. [“See under שַׁעַר.”] In קרי there is חַרְסִית.
