זָכָה i.q. זָכַךְ [fut. יִזְכֶּה], to be pure (always in a moral sense), Job 15:14, 25:4 Psalms 51:6; Micah 6:11. (Arab. زكا, Syr. ܕܟܐ and ܙܟܐܳ id. The Greek ἅγιος, ἁγνός, and probably also the Lat. sacer, sancio, transp. castus, are from the same stock.)
Piel, to make pure, to cleanse, e.g. the course of life, the soul, Psalms 73:13; Proverbs 20:9. Psalms 119:9, בַּמֶּה־יְזַכֶּה נַעַר אֶת־אָרְחוֹ “how shall a young man cleanse his way?” i.e. maintain purity of life?
Hithpael הִזַּכָּה for הִתְזַכָּה to cleanse himself, Isaiah 1:16. [The accent shews that this is not Niph. of זָכַךְ. See Thes.]
