Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

דֳּפִי in pause דֹּפִי m. Psalms 50:20, prob. ruin, destruction. LXX. and Vulg. σκάνδαλον, offendiculum, which may very well be drawn from the etymology. The Hebrew interpreters explain it badly by a conjecture drawn from the other member, דִּבָּה רָעָה evil report, slander.
