גָּעָה to low as an ox, an onomatopoetic root, 1 Samuel 6:12; Job 6:5. Talmud, id. Syr. ܓܠܐܳ to cry out, to vociferate. To this answers the Gr. γοάω, Sanscr. gau, Malab. ko, Persic كاو, كثاو kau, gau, ox; Latin ceva, i.e. vacca, Columella, vi. 24, fin. In the Germanic languages, Ko, Eow, Kuh, a cow, from its lowing.
