The verb is used with reference to price, as in Matthew 20:13, in such passages as P Oxy XIV. 1672.17 (A.D. 37–41) ὁ φίλος συντυχὼν ἔλεγεν συμ [πε ]φωνηκέναι τοῖς ἐκ τῆς κώ [μ ]η ̣ς αὐτοῦ μετὰ χάριτος. . . ἐ ̣κ (δραχμῶν) λ ̄β ̄, ";our friend said that he had agreed with the people of his village thankfully at the rate of 32 drachmae"; (Edd.), ib. IV. 728.37 (A.D. 142) ἔσχον παρὰ σοῦ τὰς συνπεφωνημένας ὑπὲρ τιμῆς χόρτου ἀργυρί [ο ]υ δραχμὰς διακοσίας ἑβδομήκοντα [ἕξ, ";I have received from you the 276 drachmae which were agreed upon for the price of the hay"; (Edd.), and BGU II. 416.5 (A.D. 150) ἀπέχω τὴν συνπεπωνημένη (l. συνπεφωνημένην) τιμήν, and Syll 241 (= .3 535).9 (B.C. 217–6) τὰ εἴκοσι τάλαντα τὰ συνφωνηθέντα ὑπὲρ τῶν αἰχμαλώτων.
