πύλη [ ῠ], ἡ, prop. one wing of a pair of double gates, ὀλίγον τι παρακλίναντες τὴν ἑτέρην π. Hdt. 3.156: mostly in pl., gates of a town (whereas θύρα = house-door), Σκαιαὶ π.
